Most police are basically good folks doing a very difficult job by anyone's estimate.  They serve the public and most of their work is responding to medical crisis by the elderly and others, and responding to car accidents. Some work is investigation of crimes, much is patrol and crime prevention and basically good public service to the community.  Every dept has its thumpers and 'roid users.  Some of the worst abuses occur by special ops/tactical units and/or swat teams who occasionally make very serious mistakes.  These folks make high risk entries against violent felons who know how to shoot well in numerous cases so they tend to be hyper-aroused and pumped-up on adrenalin.  Some act crazy and like bullies, expressing extreme physical and verbal violence.  There is no need for the use of the vilest profanity ever against young women and children or anyone else.  This is not only unprofessional and unethical, it is criminal, but usually covered up by the "thin blue line".  Sometimes these teams hit the wrong address and sometimes they shoot and kill innocent folks. Here is one case that just won't go away easily.  It involves serious abuse of children, needless killing of their pet and excessive illegal force.  It's incidents like this that has caused the State of Indiana to pass a new law that justifies self defense against any wrongful police invasion.  Just as in Louisiana they passed a state law making it illegal to confiscate weapons again during any emergency like was done duting Katrina.

Police are under extreme stress nowdays, worried about going home alive in dangerous cities and also worrying about losing their jobs and retirement. Some fear that there are plans to basically bust all police unions, and replace them with young and cheap privatized police forces with inferior training and no experience.  This of course is a big mistake since the very cream of the crop to the community tend to be the older officers who have learned to get along well with the public and know their jobs well and are very effective. Many American cities can no longer affiord senior police officers or any more pensions.  Unles we get some good leadership in Congress and the Whitehouse and get rid of nafta, cafta, gatt and wto and substitte fair trade for free trade there will likely be many folks losing govt jobs and govt pensions.  They may be the last to go, but they will probably go the way of this dept.  this NWO globalist program will eventually affect most of us even those who work for the govt.

Maybe I should move to Indiana!
The idea of "law enforcement" making a wrongful raid on any home is terrifying and seriously gross abuse of powers.   Have heard far too many stories about these kinds of things...far too often these raiders seem to enjoy their bloodbaths.

First time I ever heard about a wrongful raid on a home was when I was in middle-school.  I remember hearing about how a home in the country that ran a in-home daycare was raided during the middle of the day, while the daycare children were there.  The family also had pet dogs, including a rottweiler...all in the house.   The so-called law enforcement shot and killed all of the dogs (I don't know how many, at least 2) right in front of the children.   Of course, they hit the wrong home...apparently the house they were supposed to hit wasn't even on that street.

Too many police are far too angry, much of this is due to interaction between a basic personality disorder and a screwed up legal system and decaying society to to worsoning economy, lack of jobs and destruction of the family systems.  As a result of their frustration, they often abuse and kill pets, frequently goping out of their way to shoot family dogs and cats, justifying such in their minds by citing "maintaining safety".  Swat teams routinely do this in some cities and love to shoot people too due to these same factors and difficult issues of their jobs in general.  It's sad when officers go bad and become the criminals.  In the process of becoming thugs they lose their souls and humanity.  A lot of it is blood feud, the phenomena of seeing or having coleagues gunned down by armed felons.  This creates a free floating need for revenge and is driven by fear of having the same thing happen. This free floating revenge can easily become wanton murder of the innocent in high stress raids, occasionally based on felonious "informants" who "drop a dime".  In my town we had a special gang tactiocal force that got caught stealing drug money and TVs and other things from places they raided, occasionally without any priobablye cause or warrants.  The thin blue line saved most from long prison terms, but some of these thugs has their careers ruined by their berhaviors as the priosecution flipped some of their supposedly loyal compatriots that sold them out to save themselves.

How many shots does it take to hit one suspect from eight feet away, without hitting innocent bystanders?

P.S.

Here is another example of another type of swat team allegedly gone bad:
