Northeast Malinois

by Northeast Malinois on 24 April 2012 - 00:04

Hello, My  18 month old female Malinois was doing super obedience. Now she started to not do the sit out of motion correct consistently, or won't do it at all, and nothing I do seems to work. I have the BH in a few weeks. HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!
Thanks!

Perhaps the suggestions from my old thread might help you.

I don't believe it is out of motion any more. You stop and tell the dog to sit.

Correct! There is no Sit Out Of Motion anymore.
New BH and IPO 2012.
The rules state: quote:"From the basic position the dog handler commands the dog to heel and somewhere between 10 and 15 paces the handler stops and the dog goes into basic position. The handler shows a pause and then commands the dog to Sit. The dog handler then leave the dog and continues 15 paces...." quote end. Rest as usual.
There is also no Down Out of Motion anymore. You stop - command Down and leave the dog.
So no worries....

I'm going to teach a real sit/down out of motion and take what ever points lost for not "pausing" in the BH rather then reteach the exercise when you get to the IPO 1.

if your dog is at IPO level he/she should be obedient enough to do both...it's more difficult to retrain OUR brain!

exactly tingles....really no problem considering you teach a stationary sit before motion is brought in.....Northeast, maybe...the dog is picking up the stress coming from you preparing for BH...relax....play with the dog....don't always train the routine....make it fun...praise...praise...praise, verbally:-)

judron put it perfect! Nothing to add. I've been in that exact place. I was training the BH everyday till my girl said enough is enough, I'm done with this boring stuff!!! She started just going backward's. A club memeber told me to ease up and get back to play. Worked like a charm.

jodron-

I wan to thank you for stating your back to basics approach. I was waiting to hear the "give your dog 50000000000000000000 treats" and then it will sit while runnig at light speed or under water or on the space shuttle on the way to the moon. LOVE THE DOG, love the dog, love the dog and the dog will love you and what it is being taught. Remember it is about the DOG not the title! Thank you Sir.
