King James Version Luke 7:2-10
And a certain centurion’s servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die. 3 And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant. 4 And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this: 5 For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue. 6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof: 7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed. 8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. 9 When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. 10 And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.
Do you remember Centurion; when his servant got sick and he had sent elders of Israel to go and ask/request Jesus so he could come and heal my servant…Then elders of Israel came to Jesus and bow before him and said Jesus please come and heal Centurion’s servant because he is worthy, he loves us. (Only Jews could act like that and say like that) He did so much for us and you should do for him. So he is worthy; he loves our nation, he had build it synagogue “Most likely sponsored the project” And so Jesus comes along and then when he was not very far away – suddenly their comes group of people from Centurion “his friends” and tells to Jesus, our friend Centurion said / pass on to you a message that you don’t come to his house; “for” because he said I’ am not worthy, even I did not came myself in person and that is why I had send it my agent to you. I’ am not worthy for you to come to my house; but, then he confesses very deeply/strongly confession that Jesus was marveled. In response Jesus said one of the strongest rebukes against Israel, he said in Israel I never seeing anything like that. (Jesus said I never seeing such type of faith before) do you understand in Israel - there is followers/disciples; in Israel is marry, in Israel there is John the Baptist, in Israel theirs laws and clergy/priests and with all of them I did not see what I just seeing with Centurion and Jesus was simply marveled. (Jesus was marveled by his faith)
But exactly how it was concrete/visible, such way this faith was revealed, please listen to his words; first thing he said to Jesus - I’ am not worthy, so much I acknowledge your holiness and greatness that in your holiness and greatness – I’ am simply not worthy – for me is very fearful that you – for you to come to my house, I’ am not worthy. Can you understand what we are talking about; verity of humble – emanate out of respect/honour to God.
There are fallacious/mendacious humble and many Christians follow mendacious humble; mendacious humble says like this - obliterate yourself as less as possible and you are humble; but this is not true, we should humble ourselves like so or in such way as how God looks upon us, and we are God’s creation and God’s children, can we say amen!
We are not simply just worm and nothingness; by the way people who consider themselves nothingness – they almost never / not capable to verity respect other people. I want to look at myself like so as how God looks at me, but looking upon God as how he is for real. Exalt him “God” and you will never become proud/high-minded. Can we say amen!
Verity of humble is exalt him “God” and when we exalt him then we will absolutely/ necessarily recognize within ourselves his light and glory just like Isaiah when he encounter with God and he said lean/bare human that I’ am and that is Godly / verity of humble.
Like so was Centurion - he said oh Jesus; please understand that this nationality that has being conquer by Romans and this is proud/high-minded Roman and this is Roman chief (Commander of regiment) tells to Jesus that I’ am not worthy, I’ am not worthy Roman officer that you would coming in my house, “I’ am not worthy” but why? He did not saw just on ordinary Jew but he saw a human-being send it by God, worth with authority, power, might and holiness with such high potency that the more closer he comes the more Centurion was tremble and finally he changed his decision; can you imagine is it ethically tell a man that walked long distance and almost got to his house and then said don’t coming into my house, but why? I’ am not worthy. But; this was the most strongly / most power confession ever that Jesus was marveled. (And Jesus said strongest rebuke against Israel, there I have never seeing anything like this)…Say just the word and this word will command and within this word it commands the sickness/illness; it simply will obey such command because you have authority over sickness/affection. I confess this authority because I know the power of authority, I’ am subject to authority, my Caesar dwells in the Rome somewhere and it doesn’t matter if he is close of very far away – he says the word and I obey, my forces goes to battle / fights to death. I know the power of the word (the human with an authority) even myself I possess with an authority, I tell to my servant and he obeys my word, I tell him go and he goes; I tell my soldier and he obeys me completely. Because I know Jesus that your are figure of authority, I know you had being given an authority and the more close you come to me the more I feel nothingness with my authority before you; because you are the great one, you just simply say the word and everything will be obeyed, it doesn’t mater what continent you are in, simply just say a word and Jesus was marveled. (He “Jesus” said in Israel I never seeing anything like this)
He “Centurion” confessed him with who he really was and this is the real faith.
Please let us look deeply into our hearts but not in our mind who is Jesus for us really – who is God personally for us, veritable of honour is not just divinity, veritable of honour it is not just songs about honour, veritable of honour is a condition of the heart…I will say more - worship of doxology is not just only within songs - even it is important that we live with songs, but this is the condition of the heart (pattern of life)…
King James Version Isaiah 29:13-14
Wherefore the Lord said, Forasmuch as this people draw near me with their mouth, and with their lips do honour me, but have removed their heart far from me, and their fear toward me is taught by the precept of men: 14 Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid.
This is the words of sentence, for whom? For those who were coming to him, those who sing about him, who confessed him; who honour him with their tongue, but their hearts was far away of honouring God.
Thank you for reading, hopefully upcoming Merry Christmas on the December 25 we will honour our God with our hearts and faith.
