Is this a trick question gouda?

Do we not have our own faith?

by desert dog on 16 December 2011 - 00:12

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.

Jesus said my words are spirit and are truth.

It is god who gives us the measure of faith to believe , by impartation of the Holy Spirit. But faith is developed in degrees, and it is developed by reading the word , faith becomes stronger.

Gouda not to interfere with you're thread but maybe bible faith or real faith should be defined?

Define how you use this word before asking the question,
Is this Faith as a belief or is this faith as pertains to trust ?
I have faith in many things and I knew what gouda meant,
my answer, we learn from our parents first before all others.

Two Moons, I respect that.

The definition I am talking about is the definition of faith given in Hebrews 11:1. As the new testament was translated from Greek a lot of the words were limited by translation. As a believer I try to always find literal translations of scriptures which are real available.

There are 2 words in Hebrews 11:1, that when literally translated makes it easier to understand.

"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen".

The word substance in the original greek that it was translated from is "hupostasis" meaning a foundation or support.

The word hoped was translated from the greek word "elpizo" meaning expected or expecting.

Now faith is the foundation or support for things expected or things I'm expecting, the evidence of things not seen.

I believe since the bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, that the foundation for what I am expecting is "God said so".

I believe if you don't have a foundation for what you believe you are not really in faith concerning what you believe.

But I do believe you can base your faith on any foundation you choose, I just choose to put mine in God.

Actually I was hoping that Deanna would also have replied.

God said He was willing that none should perish.  Now if He was willing that none should perish, he must have giving everyone the measure of faith to believe.

Romans 1:20-21.  Without a doubt backs this up.

For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead;so that THEY ARE WITHOUT EXCUSE

Now every person on earth has the ability to believe, according to the above scripture.
Faith is developed by reading the word.  What is and who is the word? John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God,and the Word was God.
Its plain to understand here that Christ is the word .  Now in Hebrews 1:2 States Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things,by whom he made the worlds.  Its plain to understand here that READING CHRISTS SPOKEN WORDS TO US IS WHAT GIVES US FAITH.

RS-- You dont really believe I would try trick someone,  ha, ha
