Marvel Comics reveals the new Spider Man is black - and he could be gay in the future
wonder if making him look like Obama was intentional?...why not create a NEW and ORIGINAL superhero and not twist existing ones...

This is one strange world we live in. What is the proper response to a black/gay spiderman that looks like a younger Obama with poor fashion sense?

I bet in society there are gay black heros. Why not in comic books?

Like the one and only says, "if you don't like what I write then don't read it". No matter how outlandish it is or how big of a wreck it causes.

why not create a NEW and ORIGINAL superhero and not twist existing ones...
The issue is that they won't sell unless they are a "Original" superhero. Look at the link I posted above, none of those were super/major characters which people knew. It was more like, "oh shit there was a black green lantern??" The problem is that they can't market them for mass appeal unless they use a minority (not just black) as the main character.
Just think out of ALL the comic book movies made, how many can minority kids watch a identify with? Spawn?? Nope. Blade?? Nope. Minority kids can't go to a movie theatre annd see a person of their same skin tone be a big time superhero. The last one they had was "Hancock"............*shivers* Let's be honest we won't see a minority ever be Iron Man, Batman, Superman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Incredible Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Aquaman or any other major recognizible name. Why? B/c it won't sell to the mass public it is a change from what they know. Many of these characters have been replaced by white people (i.e....there have been numerous Flash's & Green Lantern's) and no one cared. Now there is a black/latiino Spider-Man of a alternate universe and people are pissed. Why? The main Spider-man comic still has Peter Parker alive.
In this case, Spider-man aka Peter Parker was killed. So in this Universe (Ultimate Spider-Man) he is replaced y a black/latino kid. If he was replaced with a white one, no one would care. In other Spider-Man comics...Peter Parker is alive and swinging around fighting crime. Yes there are several different Spider-Man comics all going on at the same time.
Now matter how original you make it, it won't appeal to the masses b/c they won't be able to see pass color. And at the end of the day, it's all about money.

This reminds me when J.K. Rowlings came out and said that Albus Dumbledore was gay. People went absolutely bat shit crazy over it. To me...(and I am a HUGE HP fan..like read all the books 5x) I didn't care. It didn't change my opinion of the character or the story.
I can see how all of this stuff can upset people. But I also think it really isn't a big deal. minorities can now see their favorite superohero and say to themselves..."whoa..he's the same color as me." They need more black, hispanic, and asian superoheroes. Hell a gay/lesbian would be nice as well. We have a black President and gay people can legeally get married in a state other than Mass. Time for a change.
