I personally will not eliminate food on the track ,But I would make it more interesting to the dog as I might hide it under the grass or step on the food or drag it for a while ,etc etc

Euro, I know I wasn't very descriptive in all of these posts. I was just trying to get up some posts to get some conversation going. I don't know if you took it as totally taking food off the track, but I just meant reduce from every footprint. Personally, I would never take food totally off the track even if we are doing articles. I do not start to reduce food on a track until the dog has seen everything and doesn't have a problem. Turns, 180 curves, cross tracks, zig zags, change of terrain, every terrain, etc, etc. Even if you have reduced the food, there should be something on the track if you are introducing something difficult. There should be something there to reward if the dog gets lost and finds his way back.

i think food should always be on the track.
if not couple steps by couple steps. but should be in a m&m cantainer. and that acts like a article for the dogs.
and the dog gets a reward for downing on a article, just like a FH..
hope this helps...

I like DILDEI way of tracking but I do not put food on evey steps on seasoned dog but I put at least 3 to 5 in a row and this way dog will not rush to get to the other food steps ..And thank you for heads up .

I track with leather only...... as soon as the dog is ready.
I train with liver that has been dried.... And than switch to leather.
