I am new to the breed & am getting mixed views on breeding, some say colours should never be mixed ie. black to fawn, others say it doesn't matter, I am actually wanting to buy a black bitch hopefully to show, so need to know what the fors & againsts are colour in any pedigrees, is it better to go for one that black through & through or does mixed colour in the pedigree have its advantages ?
I am keen to learn as much as I can & would be interested in hearing others views with if possible any actual factual back up for your preferences on breeding colours.I look forward to everyones thoughts.

Hi again
On the forum im on (as previously mention in the other topic), we have discussed this topic in depth. There is also links to other websites to do with colour genetics in pugs plus a grid of possible outcomes for breedings between fawns, blacks (true) and blacks(hybrid). Link to the topic... http://www.pugs.nl/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1380 and link to the site with the colour grid... http://www.pugs.com/modules.php?name=Content&pa=showpage&pid=21 (you may need to sign up to pugs.com if you arnt already a member)
Fascinating stuff!

Technically there should not be a problem but I do see some dirty wrong colour pugs now adays especially in the fawns. I do not know why but feell suspicious that the black gene has something to do with with.
Sorry if I am not that helpful
