I can't wait for the day I get to read for fun. I will keep "The Art of Racing in the Rain" on my list.

When you read "Racing in the Rain" try not to do it too soon after you lose a dog. It's a 5 box of kleenex book in the best of times, a 10 box if you read it at the wrong time.

Yikes, thanks Blitzen. I am still not entirely over having to euthanize Loki. I'll stop watching a TV show if a dog or horse is dying. I held my horse's head in my lap as he died when I was a teenager. Won't watch barns burning on TV if horses are trapped inside, watched my best friend's father and uncle shoot horses trapped in a barn fire, they could not get out and the screaming was horrific, they never did catch the arsonist.

It is a good book to cry over. I read it.
Try some of these other doggy titles.... Why My Third Husband Will Be A Dog, by Lisa Scottoline ... need I say more?
Sharp Teeth, by Toby Barlow
I loved this book.... a lycanthrope romp that reads like a long poem. They, the lycanid/likened (lol) writings felt like dog thoughts all to the feel of a graphic novel. This modern age stuff gets wild.

I was introduced to the Nicky Charles Lycanthropy series "The Mating", "The Keeping", "Bonded", and "Betrayed" (read them in this order) by a friend when I was going through a major life shift (hubby's and their midlife crises and stupid behaviors). I found myself entertained and I do not do Romance novels. Be warned, the love scenes are pretty good. You can download them for free from the App store for iPad.

If you liked those Mindhunt, you should read the series by Patricia Briggs

Sorry, I didn't know about Loki. This wouldn't be a good time to read that then.

Does anyone else like Patterson's Alex Cross books? I'm not a big fan of his Woman's Murder Club books. I'm trying to get through "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo". For some reason I just cannot get into that book. My all time favorite book is "Cold Mountain". Much better than the film of the same name.

Arghh... trying to get through....The Girl With the Dragon Tatoo.... or the Girl who kicked the Hornets Nest? I loved those books and the saddest thing is there will be no more as the author is deceased! Ever!
I do enjoy Patterson's novels ... I am sure I read one or two Alex Cross novels.... but the Maximum Ride Series is cool with the kids, too!
Cold Mountain, well, it was good but it did leave me ... well cold! LOL I like Barbara Kingsolver better when it gets to be a story stuck on a Mountain of our survival. LOL
