obviously).
2 I have no idea why you thought that my pointing out
the flaws in the ancient Greek 'democratic' system can
be read as my 'approval' of those exceptions, or wanting
to return to those days ?
3 My point was: just because some political system is
believed to be 'perfect' doesn't mean it is, look below the
surface before you advocate it for the present-day.

the republic is not a democracy, the US is not a democracy?? what did those 58k+ guys die for in the Vietnam war, and all those guys in...never mind.

The term democracy has become as ambiguous as many other political terms have these days. Take liberal for instance, which today means something very different than it did at its genesis after the enlightenment. Politicians of all orientation make a habit of taking advantage of this type of ambiguity. The key becomes knowing what you are looking at without having to rely on their rhetoric to tell you.
