Now I'm in the Hoosier National Forest and they only allow horseback riding on specific trails, everything else is fenced now a days.
Times have changed.
I sold my last mare with a foal to a friend who rode her, foal in tow, from Indiana to Illinois, they had to swim the Wabash river to get there because they were not allowed to cross the state toll bridge.
Nearly a fifty mile trip.

She would rear up and paw on command, and kick with one or both rear hooves on command, beside just jump over them.
A great little mare, not big but fast, a good jumper.
We'd swim on hot days and if I stayed too long somewhere she'd get tired of waiting and go home without me...LOL.
I could jump on her and ride without saddle or bridle.
Only bad habit she had was running our bull threw the fence, she didn't like the bull at all.
I hunted from her back.
Half Quarter Horse half Tennessee Walker.
Zombies, no problem.

moons: when u have boys you raise lots of different creatures Once dad had to build a tall squirrel cage for two squirrels then a possum, raccoons, cats, and we raised two dropped off birds
All I have now besides one cocker spaniel, 5 shepherds and one South American Cichlid
Abhay: beautiful as usual, with a gorgeous Mom, and firecracker Dad, she comes by it naturally.

LOL...shit everywhere...
One son after seeing people running over turtles in the road thought he would save the species by bringing them all home.
I mean all of them.
I never understood people, they'd miss a can or bottle but always seemed to hit the turtles, we might have had thirty or forty at one time.
And then you have to relocate them.
My boys both have a deep love of animals and I've always taught them to respect nature.
