What's on my mind?

That I am a fool!

A friend needed money to cover an account (5 Grand). The deal was, I write a cheque for $5000 and they write me a cheque for $5000. I was to wait till 3 pm to cash it so the funds could be in their account. "Trust me, trust me" is still ringing in my ears.

Well, I waited till after 3, and it bounced. That was 2 weeks ago, and I still haven't recieved my money back.
20 bucks no big deal, but 5 grand?! What an idiot I am!

gg - I'm not sure. They keep tellling me I will get it 'tomorrow'. That was 7 tomorrows ago. Today I asked for part of it, haven't heard back. Dumb di dumb dumb dumb me.

Thanks gg, me too. I hadn't realized it bounced till the following week, so I'm worried a cheque I wrote elsewhere bounced too, plus this sent me into overdraft, so it is an even more expensive lesson.

Moral of the story, do not lend money to those who are not financially responsible because your money will just get lost in their black hole, never to be seen again, and end up making no impact and of being no help.

How's your husband taking it? So sorry for your situation, but your story sounds too familiar. It sure is hard to get blood from a stone.

My husband doesn't know. We have separate accounts so it doesn't really affect him, but I know he'd spaz on me, so I haven't told him yet.

They just called me two seconds ago and said they could give me $1000 of it. Hip hip horaaay!

Keep on them. I helped someone out before too, seeing them so desperate was hard. In the end I never got it all back. Wrote it off. Learned the Lesson.

They'll probably make you work for the rest. Great that you got 25 percent back.

Let's hope there won't be any reason DH will have to know. If it were my DH, he'd be showing up on their doorstep and probably when they least expected it.
