It is!! LOL.. I have some fancy ones too! No random yard birds here lol..
You should have seen and heard my old man yesterday.. He was building a new set of steps for the porch.. Lets just say he was not happy with his supervising crew.. They all just had to see what was going on!! Then the goats wandered up.. He had the dogs, cats, chickens AND goats watching him.. He lost it when the goat ran off with his pack of cigarettes, after drinking his sweet tea lol

I think I hurt myself over the visuals, dogs, feathers, squawky toys, chasing chickens, and the videos.  Thanks, I needed this after my day Thumbs Up

Dr. Chris Evans, Professor of Psychology at Macquarie University, Australia

“Chickens exist in stable social groups. They can recognize each other by their facial features. They have 24 distinct cries that communicate a wealth of information to one other, including separate alarm calls depending on whether a predator is traveling by land or sea. They are good at solving problems. ‘As a trick at conferences I sometimes list these attributes, without mentioning chickens, and people think I’m talking about monkeys,’ Mr. Evans said.

Perhaps most persuasive is the chicken’s intriguing ability to understand that an object, when taken away and hidden, nevertheless continues to exist. This is beyond the capacity of small children.”

Grimes W, “If Chickens Are So Smart, Why Aren’t They Eating Us?” New York Times, January 12, 2003.

From a fellow Australian LOL

I personally do not think they are necessarily that bright, but they do definitely have their own personalities.. They do learn pretty quick, when it comes to food.. Mine know that they can eat out of certain dog's bowls, but not others, know my truck over my husband's car, and recognize me as their primary care giver.. They run like hell and stay away from the kids, but follow me around the yard..  They also come when they are called.. lol..

(Perhaps most persuasive is the chicken’s intriguing ability to understand that an object, when taken away and hidden, nevertheless continues to exist. This is beyond the capacity of small children.”)

How would you confirm such a theory?

Australians....LOL

Animals have abilities in different ways, different areas, I don't think you can give one an I.Q. test and expect a single answer.

Erin,
my son never used food, it was all handling and care.
