what sort of colt?
we used to use mules as pack animals, they were good around wild/feral bulls, seem much quicker on their feet over short distances and can not be made to put themselves in harms way like you can do with a horse.
not to sound negative but i really dislike the idea of exotic and otherwise wild animals in backyard zoos, hell i do not even like commercial zoos but tolerate them now as they serve some legitimate conservation and breeding/release role - well some do.
if you love wolves, lions etc then stay right away from them and let them live their life as wild animals IN THE WILD.

I passed up the big cats because they can go bat crap crazy for no reason, and do.
Knew a man who found that out the hard way, may he rest in peace.
Someone I used to trade foxes with.
I think dogs and horses have always been my fovorites.

Dogs mostly mutts until my GSD obsession, cats with one being a 2lb Egyptian Mau (very rare back in those days and a small little cat with HUGE emerald green eyes) and another a 30lb Main Coon cat named Boo Boo Kitty along with various other breeds, iguana, squirrel, robin, horses, raven, now just 2 GSDs and a 15 year old ball python.

My dad thought we should start out with ponies, but the two we had, one was completely wild and the other mean as a gar.
Nice paints.
Raised a red (strawberry) roan Tennessee Walker once that ended up spotted, I've never scanned the pictures.

I can't own any rare breeds of cats, with my luck with cats.. I have to stick to the one eyed, scraggly ragamuffins.. I know if I actually spend any $ on a cat, it will end up with some type of mishap.. Although there are some beautiful breeds out there, had to look up the Egyptian Mau, very pretty cat, Mindhunt! I still don't get the thing with snakes, but to each their own..? LoL..
Moons, yea, ponies are mean! I've broke my share of bones on the little A-holes LoL... I have a thing for a roan horse! The colt actually has started to roan out like his mom.. I don't have a strawberry roan, maybe that will be my next acquisition! But at the moment I am horsed out.. I have more horses than butts to ride them at the moment.. LoL..

Besides biting my pony was fond of rolling over with me in the saddle, and running under low hanging branches.
I was nine or ten.
Too many horse stories to tell....
We had eight by the time I was sixteen and then we started getting rid of them for one reason or another, I miss them.
Times have changed, I hardly see anyone riding these days.

My friend and I got fussed at by our husbands for riding into town last week.. People do look at you funny when you tell them horseback is a valid form of transportation!! My horses are a source of great enjoyment for me, was raised with them, my kids love them also, so I hope to always be fortunate enough to own them... I tell my husband that they keep me sane, without them, I'd be even crazier, and I know he wouldn't want that!! hahahaha
