You should be able to downgrade to Win7 but you will have to buy the Win7 disk.  Where ever you order it from should be able to help with any questions you may have.

get SONY!!!! I have a 10 year old SONY lap top with Windows XP on it...and it outlived my HP ( that was a piece of cr@p)...and my 1st Dell ( that was a pretty piece of cr@p) I am on my 2nd HP now only because it was cheap ($475) and I needed something to get me by..but i have had 3 Sony in last 15 years desktop which lasted me 6 years than my 10 year old lap top that still works (slow) but it works even though battery is dead and it has to be plugged in to work...we had a newer Sony lap top which was GREAT but we decided to give it to my brother who started college, so....here are some pros: SONY components are build in literally so nothing will get disconnected when lap top is transported as this was one of issues i kept having with HP something would rattle and roll every time i turned or tilted lap top. second reason wi-fi on SONY is made by sony not some outsourced 3rd world location and picks up a lot further and much stronger. 3rd reason processor is much better, i rarely had to restart that computer where my DELL is a daily thing because if i open more than 3 applications it freezes up....so...in my opinion SONY is pricey but completely worth it....i should have never wasted $450 on DELL and $600 on HP and 475 on another HP...trying to save some $ bit me in the a$$..should have spend $1200 on top of the line Sony in the first place.

Yes, I agree Lf, Sony has treated me well also.  Vaio F23 FTW.  Runs cool, I7 is lightning quick, and the display is gorgeous, without a single hiccup.

Laptops are a nightmare, propriatary and complicated to work on period.
I'd say the cheaper the better, and disposable.
Kinda like todays cars.

The best computer is one the can be easily fixed and updated as everything becomes outdated so quickly.

Virus programs are a fraud and the operating system has the best anti-virus data as it is their product.

Virus programs are a fraud

I don't know if they are as much fraud as much as I view them as extortion.  My A/V does seem to intercept some things, though I am convinced that the authors of these trojans, worms, bots, etc, are covertly funded by McAfee, Norton, Kaspersky, AVG, etc.

My thoughts exactly.
Besides the fact that you give these providers access to all your information in your computer.
