Bee, you asked.
If USDA collects for each animal displayed by a zoo, it adds up.
Line item? I'm not talking about a line item. You are taking this way too seriously....you're going to hurt yourself.

For the record, the USDA license fees for exhibitors aren't paid per animal; there's a fee schedule based on total number of animals: for example, an exhibitor who has between 1 and, say, 20 various regulated exotics would pay an annual license fee of, say, $50.00, while one who has 101 to 300 assorted exotics would pay a license fee of $250. [Don't actually know what the specific fees are or what the maximum # of animals per license fee is--just pulling figures out of the air to illustrate the point].
Actually, to make it even easier, here's a link to the actual regulation which lists the various license types and the fees for those licenses. It's really not the expensive for the licenses; dealer/broker licenses top out at $760.00/year, while exhibitor licenses are capped @ $310.00/year.

bee how will you know when it happens, trumpets?
by joanro on 30 October 2013 - 21:10
You are correct, Hexe...I did simplify saying each animal, should have said each facility. I have friends who have to keep a license current and it depends each year on how many animals they have.

vk4... Trumpets are cool! But I am really not as literally minded as some, and as some would think. Could be different for everyone, but we think it is all the same!
Thanks Hexe for your facts. Always trustworthy in my book.

Nothing like visiting a Zoo you can drive thru, and not even leave the car.
