Gk1 I do know if spiritual is my way of thinking but it definitely not ruled out. About the part you disagree with that's ok. But I sand with what I wrote. If on a lead it is definitely my responsibility how Violent it gets that is why my dog's send a warning bark. If the dog is not listened too well the it's taken out of my hands if the aggresser continues. If at night and you break in my dog's will work on there own braking will get me up and my family will be my first priority.i would never intentionally put my dog's in harms way but I train them in this manner to keep myself and my safe. I will go to every level to make sure my dog's are safe.

Koots iv do something very similar to what you describe in many different ways and thank fully iv came out OK. If a dog is clear in the head and not just over driven by anxiety when under a bit of pressure most times it will work out ok. Iv also had dogs that I would never do that to because I know it's more than likely it will go wrong.

And by the way I'm not blown smoke here. I'm by no means the best dog trainer or anything close. But I do know my dog's I spend time with them not just training. I have a very strong relationship I know what make the tick. Slow steps big gains. I never push my dog's of of comfort zone if you listen watch body language that dog will show you where he is in his own mind. Follow what the dog has to offer and not what you want most times you will be surprised. Imo. That is how I do it anyway. First I no the type of dog I want and take it from there

Quite right Blade. It is a very revealing test to show if more work is needed and that's why it was done about half-way through the K9 class so that they could address any issues. It's also quite possible to end up in this situation on the street, and as the K9 handler one would want to know dog's reaction/impulse.

well guys, you can carry arsenal with you and be rambo or dirty harry by nature. i have no objection.
point isn't about dog handlers personality but about persistent incorrect conception of fighting role of dog in mass, including LE.
you see, my road into world of GSDs began from real working dogs and ended by sport. it gives me opportunity to compare and notice differences - views as then and now.
goal of training then wasn't to make dog as fighter superior to human, which is impossible due to many factors. target was through the teaching to increase dog's chances for surviving such fight. paramount was - border dogs very valuable asset and cannot be wasted in action as disposable.
sport approach lays on foundation - no harm comes to dog. sport "fighting" tactic nothing but "tug of war" game. such approach are widely spread not only in sport community but in LE as well and can clearly be seen even in video on previous page.
confidence of handler in own dog not gonna to help that dog in case of real confrontation but learned skill will.

bladeedge - the fight involving your dog is never out of your hands, no matter the aggressors actions.

ValK - absolutely confidence in dog/self, team and training is an important factor.

ValK - I did nearly 3 decades in the Marines and 2 decades of LE in the big city. I know what a "real confrontation" is.

Gk1 we may look at things differently. I think I understand your point but I may look at this a little differently.

bladeedge - we differ on use of the suit as well.  I prefer dog take the arm for obvious reasons, unless not available.

Beowulf here was bred by Jiri Novotny/JINOPO. Schooled from pup by Prager Hans. I keep him in top physical condition. This drill was continuous but paused in between to untangle the muzzle.

Gk1, was that last clip supposed to simulate real life?
Just wondered, because most people aren't going to walk up to a barking dog and stick their arm in his mouth.
