Ask a question to find out the proper information, Lacaze, and get blasted on this forum. Don't feel bad as it has happened to me more than one time and just about everyone else on this forum. Don't get discouraged and quit posting.

Lacaze, the male is not too young, but your female is definitely too old.
Even "prooven" brood bitches normally are retired from breeding at that age - as long as you don´t want to pay a lot of money for the vet, maybe even loose your female, don´t do it.
Do me a personal favour and google for "broodbitch - dog - age - retirement".

I definitely think 8 for your female is too old; here are possible risks: hemmoraging, emergency C section; needing blood tranfusions, not bonding with puppies. Not saying it has not been done but your risks are much higher than at 2 or even 3 years old. Been there myself and would NOT ever do it again. Good luck Nan
PS: Cost me my bitches life when her puppies were 14 months old and my vet tried to warn me of possiblities but my bitch was such an incredible girl; still not good enough and when I say I would NOT ever do it again, I really mean you can have way too many unexpected problems like puppies with deformities, temperament problems, etc, those eggs are old also, think about it, would you want to have a child at 55 years old?
