Panacur is fenbendzadol. Gets intestinal worms except tapes.
I have horses so usually use my excess wormer on my dogs.
Not sure exactly what your are asking.

For dogs is it working for you??

by hexe on 04 October 2017 - 08:10

I haven't used it recently, but the last time I did [two year ago], it worked just fine.

What parasite[s] are you trying to control with it, that it isn't working well for you?

by Nans gsd on 04 October 2017 - 22:10

Supposedly round and a possible Giardia; after day 3 finally passed a round?? Took a while. Is that normal? Thx Nan

by hexe on 05 October 2017 - 00:10

There's a reason it has to be given over 3 days...I'd say the dog probably didn't have much of a roundworm burden. Giardia takes more than one course to clear it, given the nature of the organism, and it's not unusual to have to do a course of metronidazole in between the Panacur.

Thanks Hexe: did a total of 5 days and nothing after the 3rd day event. BUT stools were much much better in consistency and he is just now 11 1/2 weeks old. So don't want to do too much all at once, however will repeat in 2 weeks. So in case this is not clear, 5 days consecutively and repeat at proper dosage in 2 weeks. Of course with higher dosage as he is growing like a week. Thank you for your help. Nan

the "proper dosage" kind of depends on where you are located. If you live in a very dry climate, my vet said 1 cc per 7 lbs of body weight should work unless facing a huge infestation. If you are in a humid climate, however, infestations are usually worse and dosage should be 1cc per 4 lbs over 5 days.

Thank you altostland I will repeat with that dosage in 2 weeks. I did use 5 cc's for 15 lbs of puppy; know you need to give a bit extra at times and since I was not sure except for intermittent loose stools thought that should cover it. Hopefully. Thanks again Nan
