Hi everyone I know most of you will say the same thing about this issue.Usually a GSD's ears must stand by six months at the latest or they never will.I raised a gorgeous male that grew to be 100 lbs at 1 1/2 years now,and he had floppy ears up to eleven months of age they finally stood with no taping, gluing, etc! Because of this experience I took a gamble and purchased a daughter of Urban vom Gleisenauer Schloss who at 11 months of age still has floppy ears in hopes that she will just turn out like my male.I got a great deal on her because of this problem the breeder did not expect her ears to ever stand. She is also a large dog, now 75 lbs.Is this problem common in larger dogs as they take longer to mature it can also take longer for the ears to stand or am I pushing my luck?Someone please give me your professional opinions.

it can be a problem for larger ears, those spendly pups that have the ears up by 6 weeks may not be much dog as a adult. are the ears floppy or down, floppy will stiffen with age.

Hi Gem thanks for your reply, you can see when she runs they go up then flop half down like wings, also when she wakes from sleeping sometimes they stand for a few minutes then flop over. The weirdest thing is how sometimes when she wakes they fold over her head and they almost look "pinned up" if you know what I mean.I would post a picture if I knew how. What do you think of the Urban bloodline?

well i had have the same experience like you.my dog took one of his ears up on the 17th week and the second one when he was 10 months. he is a large dog. u can pretty much consult a vet or some pro. but my other gsd took their ears up like the age of 7-13 weeks. the dog i m talking about his from Yasko vom frabenspiel and viola huhnegrab

Lisa, I don't remember Urban's blood line, he's been judged at top shows in this country with good results, I'll go with that. if the ears attempt to stand they could come up. if she is heavy take some weight off, thiner dogs with larger ears seem to do better. is she a house dog or out side dog.
