Hi all, Loking over my dogs long pedigree info (5 generations)given to me by the breeder and comparing it to the info on this site I find many misspellings of names and at least 1 wrong Dam in the fifth generation. I believe this to be an unintentional mistake on the breeders part. My dog is registered AKC, my worry is that the AKC also has the wrong info and how that will affect my efforts to show/title my dog. I am sending for the long pedigree from the AKC tomorrow. Should I be worried? Thanks Marie

No need to worry. Keep in mind that this site is open, meaning anyone could put anything they wanted to on here. I would suspect mistakes here before I would from the AKC or breeder. AKC will have the correct info, if nothing else they are meticulous record keepers (although they do have errors from time to time, but rectify them quickly).

Ditto - There are many many errors here --- even photos of the wrong dog -- (not the dog who's pedigree is listed -- and not even the correct Kennel name !! (Where two are similar) It would be nice if the site manager would post instructions as to how to correct such things as the WRONG NAME -- or delete an incorrect photo (one that I know of, was not put there by the breeder but someone else who doesn't know what's what !! Oaken - you do know that you can get your pedigree 'on line" from AKC -- don't you. You can "charge it" right through their website and print it out - Of course, the 'Printed' one they send is probably prettier. It's funny how you call 5 gen Long -- I did some homework and built a 13 generation pedigree for my male pup -- I did it in EXCEL !! It was a labor of love - but because of this database, I was able to trace my boy back to the breeder's FIRST BITCH -- 1953 !! (The 10th through 13th generations are not complete, but there is a lot there !! It's pretty amazing to see it all at once !!

Pineridge: Tracing your pedigree back that far is a pretty cool. Thanks for the idea!

I have found SO MANY MISTAKES in this database, I just don't trust any of it anymore! I'm sitting here looking at a hard copy pedigree now and comparing it to what's in here...ridiculous! Misspellings, wrong reg numbers, wrong parents, etc. I have also attempted to enter missing data in existing pedigrees, but hit a dead end when I don't have the parents. The data base simply won't except a registration with parents as "not known"... Very frustrating! Go to http://workingdogsportal.com/modules.php?name=Pedigree Not near the size of this one, but growing. Moderators are supposedly monitoring all submissions.
