Hello all, There is a male by the name of V Dorkan von der Kahler Heide SZ 2063840 - Born : 22.03.2000 his sire and dam are Zycco von Arminius and Dupia von der Kahler Heide. I was told by his owner that he is V rated with SchH1 and Kkl 1 OFA fair. Is it possible for someone to confirm this for me. I have been search for a kor report or a show record and I have not been able to find one for 3 years. I own a pup from Dorkan. I was just wondering if anyone has information on him specifically a kor report and a show record please help me out. Thanks so much. Damien

The dog you mention is listed in this database as being V rated, SchH1 titled and as having hips OFA fair. The question is who added that information on the dog. If it came from the SV in Germany, then it is probably very reliable. If someone else added the information, it may or may not be reliable. The bottom line is that both the SV and the owner should be able to supply verification of the claims. The dog looks nice enough and I would suspect is a V rated dog if it is titled. Getting a copy of the Kör report is not terribly hard and there are several people on this messageboard who have the ability to look it up from SV records. Why can't you ask the owner for copies of his scorebook, the conformation card, Kör report and the hip ratings from the OFA?

You could ask the name of the judge and when/where he was titled and koered...Even the name of the club that held the trial...some leads to start with. Also ask for a copy of his scorebook. Also...the OFA allows you to check a rating on their website. You will need the dog's name and/or AKC number... Hope this helps...

The only information I have on Dorkan are his OFA status... Yes hes Fair... His OFA number is GS-64889F29M-PI. http://www.offa.org/display.html?appnum=1031816#animal I tried searching for a HD ZW number on him on the SVsite but couldn't find it... altho His number would be 105 :)

I would ask the breeder but I cannot get in contact with him. His numbers are no longer in existance. I am the culprit who registered Dorkan with this database. I put the information that was given to me by his owner who is also the breeder of my dog. My dog Yasko vom Wustensand can also be seen on this database. But if anyone has any further information on Dorkan it would greatly be appreciated.

gimme10mins, wow Yasko is gorgeous! Do you have any stacked pictures of him by any chance? I would love to see what his structure is :)

Thanks Brittany, no I don't. I don't know how to do the stack thing. He is not trained he is just my family pet. I try to get pics of him when he is at attention when he sees something but it never works.

gimme10mins, Does Yasko get too distracted by everything? Like if he would to see somebody talking towards him does he perk up? If so then you are in luck... what I do with my female is to go to some park where theirs lots of "Leashed" dogs. When I see an incoming owner walking their dog I quickly move my females Angulation the correct way and quickly take pictures by another party that i trust. Before doing all of this... ya need to train the camera guy of what you are looking for... have the camera guy look at bunch of stack pictures from Urma... To take great pictures you need to know what you are triggering :D Checkout my results at http://gsdbreeders.proboards28.com/index.cgi?board=pics&action=display&thread=1119827537 Im just dying to see of what his structure is :D

oh yeah have you considered of adding a BH on Yasko? I know hes a family pet but if you were to work on him... both of you guys would enjoy yourselves :) Just remember that a German Shepherd dog NEEDS a job... their breed to work :) Do some obedience with him once in a while ;)

Hi Brit, the ZW calculation you assumed here is not quite correct. That would only apply to a pup that has not been screened yet. Then you take the values of the parents, divide the sum of both by two, to get the median value for the pup. Once the pup has been certified, the value is adjusted to the individual certification, and then kept updated every quarter according to what this pup produces as well as its relatives. With a1 hips, the puppy ZW will go down. With a2 it will go up slightly. With a3 hips it will go up considerably. OFA fair would be about a3 hips... FYI - the SV website does not list dogs that are certified a4 and a5, though they do get a ZW. Gimme10, you might want to screen your dogs hips, just to know where you are at. Both of his parents do not have the best of HD background, which does not necessarily mean much, but statistically your boy may be more prone to hips that are less than perfect. An x-ray will help you clarify that. If his hips are less than perfect and he has never had problems, there is no need to panic. If caught early you can take some preventative measures, like taking some weight off your dog, supplementing with EstherC (might want to do that anyways), glucosamine/MSM, and keeping your dog fit without overworking him, and avoid exercise that puts stress on joints like jumping, sudden change in direction, stop and go. Then he should continue to give you much joy in the years to come.
