I considering getting another female. I currently have a Larus son and Quirin daughter. Any opinions on bloodlines that would complement the ones i already have.

I'm really interested in the responses -- that aren't here yet -- as I'm trying to learn more about "current" lines. Larus has something of everything it seems - and your female goes to Q arminius and Uran - and, of course, Uran is all over Larus's background -- I know, at some point, I'm gonna say it's too far back. My young dogs have much of the same -- Cello Romerau, Zamb, arlett stuff, Jeck and Mark vh Beck -- and their "other half" is Farbenspiel ( and Jango Furstenberg - for my Male - and Karat's Ulk (Ursus) and Karly Arminius which combined fabulously in my female. I would think you'd have to go also to the "strong points" - of what you know certain dogs are producing and things you'd like to see improvement on - and go there - regardless of specific bloodlines -unless of course, you end up too close for comfort - one of my peeves is good feet !!! When you have them, you know it !! GSD's need to check out a couple of Dobe's and dream of feet like that !!

With regards to your peeve about feet. As an ex breeder/shower of Dobes you are not really comparing apples with apples. Dobes were not bred to move sheep from pasture to pasture all day their pasterns are more upright than a shepherd and the feet are tighter. I take it you are referring to the spread feet and long toes that you see sometimes. On the rare occasion this has happened here it is fairly noticable when the puppy is young, you can try keeping them off sand or any very soft surface which makes the feet spread and walk them on blue metal or small pebbles that make them scrunch their feet together. Also sometimes extra calcium helps - like Calcium Sandoz

haha -- lol -- I figuured I might get exactly that response !! Very Good !! Yes, my issues are with Long toes and FLAT FEET !!! Like no pading in the "pads"-- I've had both in the same dog -- the long toes are splayed and not very attractive - and certainly not suited for the work they need to do - and... of course... it wouldn't hurt for some to have stronger (correct angle pasterns) - but also not as straight as the Dobe' That would look a bit odd - My new puppy has beautiful short toes, tight feet and strong (correct) pasterns -! And I believe they will stay that way. But there are so many GSD's with really bad feet - not so much in working dogs -- for example - just a genrality - I've never seen a GRAFENTAL dog with bad feet !! and there are other lines, of course, where this is LOCKED IN !! If only -- every line could capture it !!! TTFN
