I have a young bitch (9 months old, Whisky daughter). She has a fine character and tamperament but I worry with her back angulation. She has now reached 61.5 cm at withers (without being at a show stance) and her croup ir rather too high. She has improved significantly in the last 2 weeks but now this improvement seems to have stopped. Should I expect further improvement and is there a possibility that she lowers her height in the front? Thank you all for your help and advise. I really like this database when it doesn't get offensive at people. In my opinion this is what is all about! Exchange of infomation and widening of or knowledge regarding our favorite dog breed!

petros- i too have a young whisky daughter, although she is now 16 months, she is a tall female & with what i think is a back angulation that borders on roach, but never has she scored badly in any of her shows, always vp2 or vp1. i plan on showing her in november again in the young dog class & we shall see how she fares this time. she is indeed a beautiful female, absolutely brilliant temperment, lovely red & black. i think your female is too young to say for certain, but they only get bigger, not smaller, so her height at the withers won't get less. the croup shortens as a gsd matures is my understanding. i know it is frustrating, but the old saying is "watch & see"

When you say "back angulation", are you referring to her topline or to the angulation of the hind quarters? I know of a Whisky son rated SG despite the fact that he measures 70 cm.! According to several German judges, height at the withers may decrease with age as the chest developes and broadens. My older male (5.5 years) is 4 cm less than he was after he did his first breed survey about 3 years ago.

Since you say your female is 9 months, I couldn't help but laugh because when one of my females was 9 months I thought she was deformed! I told the breeder, I thought this is supposed to be a show dog. She is now 2 and very balanced and pretty bitch. I think you should give her a little time to mature.
