Exactly, it is hypocritical to fake it but according to Shtal it is better to fake it and be accepted than be a non and be cast into their fear mongering hell hole.

No creator should be feared--if any thing they should be a magnent of love and understanding, not fear, violence and threats.

There is fear in the sense of respect, and then fear in the sense of being afraid. No, it's ridiculous to think people would be drawn to God through hell, fire, and brimstone. There seem to be some around here who are parroting what they hear on TBN or on Sunday morning.

"...if religion is so great, why has it started so many wars? Why does it build huge churches but fail to feed the poor?”

Even in respect--I do not fear.

I respect my elders, but I do not fear them.

I respect some police but I do not fear them.

I respect my spouse but I do not fear them.

I respect my dogs but I do not fear them.

I respect my creator but somehow I should have the fear of God in me.

Sorry, but again I will never fear my creator.

Keith...what you are describing are the false pretenses under which people mis-represent God. You are correct, which is why I blast the Tim Tebow love-fest every chance I get.

That kind of fear would seem to speak to the sovereignty and just nature of God, or a creator, where there are consequences for our actions.

You missed the main point what Paul is talking about, God will judge the hypocritical people too, but the point Paul was making about that they are spreading the gospel "The Smart Book" which is the Bible - As oppose cursing or mocking the name of God...

Remeber What Jesus said:

Matthew 23:3
All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, [that] observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.

Translation1:
All things, then, which they give you orders to do, these do and keep: but do not take their works as your example, for they say and do not.

You must really think you're something, so full of yourself that you feel qualified to interpret the, "word of God," and whatnot.  People like you don't worship a god; you think you possess His wisdom.

Shtal, you, me, and every other knucklehead who calls himself a "christian" needs to understand where the op is coming from. If you don't like what you see going on around you, look in the mirror. You can't give someone what you don't have I don't care how many words you use. This is not a personal affront, it's everywhere. Is your "church" where it needs to be? Why would anyone want any part of what WE'RE selling?

Honestly just partially. "I have a wisdom of the word of God (which is Bible)"

Here is what Bible stands for...
