I've seen dogs advertised on this site as being 'Ursus free' as far as their pedigrees go. What is the problem with the Urus line? And which Urus are they referring to? I am interested in a pup that has Ursus von Batu in its pedigree.

Don't they all? LOL It's like the working line people saying Mink and Fero free. They were just used so very much some poeple want to branch away from that.

Yes, having researched Ursus, I think that's it, 4pack. Also, one of the people who commented on him said he had a son of Ursus with only one testicle and both hip AND elbow problems. Even the great ones drop the odd dud now and then! (And it could have come from the female line, too, though her lines looked pretty good, with a-1 hips.)

Howdy, 4pack is coming pretty close.Annother reason may be that because this line was heavily bred, that you could easyly run into breeding problems. Hence i do believe that this line was & still is superior. Sunsilver, s**t happens, we all know that and all breeders will encounter litters that do not turn out the way we wish. There are just things that can not be influenced, regardles of how carefull we are choosing breeding partners. I would more relay on the perspective of what was produced overall and try to determen what was the % of the good and bad. Regards Ulli Dresbach

You mean Ursus Batu, who comes from such great GSDs as Odin, Jeck, Hobby with a little Zamb thrown in there for good measure, that Ursus...???Almost impossible to find a good GSD (showline side) without any of them in ther pedigree, of course there are going to be duds in any line or lines...Hope that answers the question...
