So just the collapsible tunnel is not OK but a rigid tunnel is good to use?

Have there been incidents of dogs getting caught up in the fabric of collapsible tunnels?

Koots, yes, there have been a number of dog injuries related to the collapsed tunnel, aka the 'chute', mostly modest soft tissue type, but some injuries severe enough to become chronic and career-ending. I don't think there will be too many mourning it's elimination.

The regular, open-ended tunnels haven't been associated with much in the way of injuries, even when they're set up in serpentine or curve configurations, so there's been no call from agility competitors to eliminate that piece of equipment.

The agility world is celebrating the end of the chute. Almost every venue of agility has stopped the use of the chute in trials as of tomorrow. This is a dangerous obstacle as many dogs get caught up in it and the dogs can be mentally and physically hurt.

My own dog got wrapped up in it, rolled several times, ripped it off the rigid part, and tried to jump the next jump with it still wrapped around him where he again crashed. I don't think there's a single person going to miss this. We now need to think of another fun, challenging, and safe obstacle to replace it.

The rigid tunnel was involved in the death of a mal because it was over tighten by the tunnel securing device, AKA straps and the dog broke it's neck. To my knowledge that is the only serious tunnel injury, but the chute is a massive pain in the ass to use, train and secure.
I wonder if UKC will follow suit?

Wow, just took a look at the vid...
I am not actively involved in agility, never thought about the problems of the chute, but this changed my mind!
