Here's the link to where this topic got it's start, in the dog forums.

Tebow Thread

Besides the fact that both topics deserve their own thread, football belongs in the OT. I've enjoyed reading your posts and feel instead of deleting or editing your posts, I'd spend the time to copy and paste it, in the OT forum, for you.

I have to say, I enjoyed reading it the second time as much as I did the first time :)

Feel free to continue, next week's football talk, on this thread or by all means make a new one, here in the OT  :)

 FreeCalkid:

YOu remind me of Tim Tebow who takes things of helping those who are unfortunate in lifes paths out with his time he devotes to both nfl and other things...a former Heisman winner in 07 this was released today...

Your Tebow will become the Light of the Dwarf gsd world like this little 9 yrs old looks to Tim Tebow for his light at the other end.....''

Tim Tebow has a hero – a terminally ill 9 year- old with a bucket list

Children are people, too.  While they may not have the years of experience older adults do, they have heart and courage.

Blake Appleton is such a kid.  He has terminal leukemia and is already under the care of Hospice; but that does not diminish who he is, what the likes, and where he wants to go; and who he wants to meet.

Even though he understands that his little life will be cut short unless a miracle is performed, he continues to live life.  And he has a list of things he wants to do – his “bucket list” – if you will.

Blake will turn ten on February 9th if he makes it.  However, as reported by David Whitley in SportingNews, Blake refuses to play the victim.

He reports that his mother, Miranda says: “Blake gets up and laughs and jokes and runs around and enjoys life. He inspires me to do that every day.”  She says there is not a moment that he does not have a smile on his face

Blake told his mother that he did not want her to be unhappy with him; but he just didn’t want any more chemotherapy or radiation.  And who could blame him after 30 chemo treatments and 20 surgeries, he decides that enough is enough.  He has brain cancer.

One of the things on his bucket was to meet Tim Tebow.  And that he did.  A 13-year old friend named Emma Hill decided that she would make this wish come through.  She got in touch with Tebow’s parents; and then she called Miranda and asked if she could give her phone number out to someone.

The phone rang and the voice said, “Hi, Mrs. Appleton.  This is Tim Tebow.  Is it possible to speak to Blake?”

Later in the week, sports writer, Peter King asked Tim if anyone had said anything memorable to him that week and he gave a surprising answer.  Tim has been receiving a lot of flak from certain people about his faith in God, praying before games, and giving testimony to God.

“I’ll tell you one thing that happened during the week that I remember,” Tebow said. “I had an opportunity to talk with a kid named Blake Appleton, from Florida, on Thursday. He’s a leukemia patient who’s just been moved to hospice.”

“And after the game when I was being interviewed on TV, I got to say his name. That’s what I’m proud of today. I let him know that people cared about him. I let him know God has a plan for him.”

Blake made it to Mile-High Stadium last Sunday riding in a limousine, escorted by the Denver Police.  Tebow saw him all bundled up during warm-ups.  He took Blake aside and asked him if he were a “Gator fan?”  The only thing his mother learned of the conversation was that Blake asked Tim if he played the Angry Bird video.

Blake has other things on his bucket list.  He was asking next to see the Statue of Liberty.  He wants to go to Hawaii and Australia.  He wants to see the Eiffel Tower.  Some kids might think he is a lucky boy to get to meet Tim Tebow;  but those who meet Blake consider themselves the lucky ones; especially Tim Tebow.

This author, with scores of others, are praying that Blake gets that miracle.

You can read more here at AOL Sporting News.

@ yellow ...not nice? ;-) honestly though, Timmy boy is a wonderful humanitarian and great kid. He is however, the most miserable of nfl qb's, and his jargon is standard issue bible belt.

Be glad he is not pumped up on Drugs, pot or Steroids and making bond to get out of Jail like others..
Us Bible belt people are very much in support of his BOWING to pray.  A family that prays together stays together...

Yellow- I guess I put the lack of substance abuse under the heading of "great kid". Tebow isn't the first, and won't be the last pro athlete to pray on the field or mention the name Jesus in front if millions, ie. Kurt Warner after winning the Super Bowl. Tebow means well and it is my opinion that he is genuine, but misguided. I believe his biggest problem are the people who have lied to him his whole life about how good of a qb he is, and about what biblical Christianity really is. As far as Tony Romo, well, I'm really sorry about that; good news is April and the Nfl draft will be here before you know it. :-D

I understand Biblical christianity and I have not researched his life past at all.

I just applaud him doing what he doing now  as he is trying. Human as we all are , extra effort has to be used to stay  IHS..

Texans are playing right now and their Qb delimma is certainly  on Yates to stand in the shoes of being a BIG GUY and he has done well..

Now not to ruin Dwarf Tebos thread

Cincinnati is ahead and Houston is trying to catch up..

And the Boys and the Eagles will be sitting out the playoffs in a sports bar. Giants are going down tomorrow. Our division stank this year.

BTW I wish Rex would get a haircut. We had Dad, now you have the son.

So Rob and Rex are twins? All rigthie then.

What is it about Tebow that makes so many root for him to fail? Still in his rookie year and already he's done? Come on, give him a break. I'm an Eagles fan and frankly I'd much rather see Tim Tebow setting an example for Amerca's youth than our QB Mike Vick. Somehow picturing Tebow giving thanks for his talent is a far better image than thinking of Vick electrocuting a pittie. Most here know how that's done, so I won't get graphic.

Blitz - This is not Tebow's rookie year. People aren't rooting for him to fail, he's actually done a good job of that on his own and there is already talk of him riding pine today against the Steelers. His completion percentage is in the 40's, he averages 2 or 3 picks a game in addition to the 2 or 3 fumbles, his own coach admitted "he'd (Tebow) be screwed" if he had to run a full nfl playbook, his arm strength, release time, and accuracy are abysmal due to terrible mechanics, and now that the rest of the league has a little bit of tape their gadget run option offense, the Broncos have dropped 3 straight. What irritates actual fans of the game is that it's obvious he stinks, while the Tebow fans who know nothing about the game continue to act as if he's a cross between Joe Montana and the Apostle Paul. He carries on as if he's a champion for Christianity, while he can barely pull off championing a form of religious rhetoric loosely based on the bible that happens to run rampant here in the bible belt.

He only started 3 games last season and the Bronco are in a playoff game today.  Eagles, the Boys, and most other NFL teams have seasoned QB's and they are not in a playoff game today.

I'm not a Bronco fan, so it's my hope that they keep him for the next 20 years as their starter if he doesn't improve. The worse he is, the more every football fan should like him. If I were a Bronc fan,  I might have a different opinion.

Funny guy YR. Yes, been a Pats fan since '84. Now I live in "gator country" ! NE whipped Denver in Denver a few weeks ago, and Saturday night will be more of the same. Ben single handedly lost that game when he fumbled and goto called for delay of game on consecutive plays, pushing the Steelers out of FG range with time expiring. Tom Brady is not Ben. Denver only managed to muster 3 pts. in the second half and won because of a coin toss and busted coverage. Can't wait till Saturday! !!

The only reason the Steelers were even in the game was because of the refs blowing the backwards pass call.  10-14 point swing right there.

Tebow didn't get it done.  If he was a halfway competent qb they would have put 45 up on the Steeler's that showed up yesterday.  he hit on a couple of very big pass plays, and missed double the amount he actually completed.  He missed many wide, wide open recievers yesterday.  He's lucky his D sacked Ben 3 times alone on his last drive, once causing a fumble and loss of almost 30 yards, or the game never makes it to OT.
If I was a Pats fan, i'd have been cheering my butt of for the Bronco's to win.  I'd love to play a team like them every week.

Are you a Steeler fan zdog?

Tebow was 10-21 for 316 yards and 2 tds.  That's a qb rating of 125.6.  He also ran for 50 yards and a td.  If that's not getting it done against what is supposed to be one of the top defenses in the NFL, I don't know what is.  Broncos beat the Steelers on both sides of the ball the entire game.   My friends that are Steeler fans are talking about how they had all these injuries, but failing to mention how the Broncos had a number of significant players out injured as well.  Only thing that even remotely kept the game close was the terrible officiating.  I'm not a Broncos fan btw.

Any half way decent nfl qb could easily have made the throws Tebow made. It's not like he stood in the pocket, made 5 reads and then found the open receiver. He dropped back, threw his wounded ducks up in the air, and found inexcusably soft man coverage. The winning rd came because the steelers deep safety should have been over the top az the right corner was playing outside technique, in layman's terms, blown coverage. I will say that to his credit, Tebow did not throw a pick or fumble the ball, both of which Big Ben was guilty of yesterday. You can't expect to win the close ones when you don't take care of the ball.

Hardly a Steeler's fan, and the Steelers looked like garbage last night.  I'll give Tebow his yards he did complete some passes that went for a lot of yards.  A decent qb would have buried the Steelers last night, and I do mean buried them.  It should have been a 3 possession game going into the final minutes, instead if the Denver defense didn't step up huge like they do in every game they win, the game never would have made it to OT, the broncos would have lost.

Not trying to play the if's and but's game or woulda coulda shoulda.  There's no doubt the Broncos are winning, but why not give credit where it is due, the defense and  Prater making 50+ yd field goals like they were child's play.  Tebow didn't cost his team in turnovers yesterday so credit for that.  But come on, he was missing wide open, and I mean wide open recievers, by yards.  I am so glad he's not my quarter back.  The only thing I could defend is the team is winning, he has heart and that's about it.  I could never bring myself to defend his level of play at the quarter back position.  it's not good.

I think Tiny Tim Tebow will get that football toy and WILL learn to throw it and then run and catch it too.   A #15 Jersey is on order also... I sew and will modify it to fit him.

I love how the topic got wild about football... Little Tebow watched the game with me and hubby and when we cheered, he barked and ran around the room, then back on my lap to watch for the next play.  He's a true fan!   We had snacks and he had chicken heart pieces, raw and gooey.. just like he likes them!     What a fun dog.

YEAH  TEBOW:   Who the heck do you think threw that last pass?????Who caught it..IT took 2 guys and one was Tim Tebow...He gambled it and it paid off.. Can't ask for anything better. Funny the Steelers had chance 3 minutes out and they FAILED>to getter done!! Even spiked it and got  squashed , called push him back , push him back...I remember those cheers MANNNNNY yEEEARS ago...

Just Like I do not defend Tony Romo but we won some games regardless and just like the last second TIME OUT and our kicker couldn't make it twice in a row..

That was not TonyRomos' fault/  Tony has good things he does and some times he can't do squat.
Tim Tebow has a lot of years to improve.  I think Tony's years of improvement have run out......

No fault to any of them..I saw Eli  stink up the field a week after they beat Cowboys...so it never is even a good quarter, (and I think ELI  is way OVERRATED,)      back who gets it done.

NO defense no coverage so he can step up in the pocket...Poor Ben  he saw the dirt several times..Made him look pretty bad too.

Maybe he had  Marilyn on HIS MIND!!!  lol

I guess we will see how next week goes..   You cannot STOP A Train...

LOL
SO GLAD TO HEAR Little Tebow had a good afternoon and got excited watch his name sake..Cannot wait for him to get his T shirt...

Just make sure it was not made in Baglesdesch

So who will make it to the Superbowl? I'm thinking Denver and New Orleans... Saints for the win! Since my Bengals are out. :(
