'19 SGR '23 USGV CH Dolf von Düsternbrook had been Sieger (Grand Champion) of Germany for the year 1919, and Grand Champion of Austria 1920. He was a sensation in America, defeating every Shepherd Dog he ever met, and was many times best dog of all breeds in the show. Widener is alleged to have paid $10,000 for '19 SGR '23 USGV CH Dolf von Düsternbrook and Joselle's Debora von Weimar .

The Joselle Kennels at Elkins Park, Pennsylvania, besides 19 SGR '23 USGV CH Dolf von Düsternbrook & SGR (A/B/F) GVCH(US) Apollo von Hühnenstein, housed some notable bitches, the greatest of the breed. 19 SGR '23 USGV CH Dolf von Düsternbrook was in competition as stud with Hamilton SGR'20 US.CH&GV'22 Erich von Grafenwerth, 323540, imported to the US early in 1921.
