Can anyone tell me the difference between show line and working line and how I can tell what my male is? Can I figure it out just by his pedigree? I am new to the registered AKC, but have owned german shepherds for almost a decade so I am starting to learn and research a lot! Thanks!

Post the pedigree and maybe a picture of your dog and someone should be able to help you...

Yes, we will be able to tell from the pedigree.
Here is one of the best descriptions I've ever read of what you can expect from the different lines:

It is not allowing me to upload any pictures. His grandmother is Astrid Von Sonnenshein and great grandfather is X-Ray Von Bad-Boll on the dam's side. I did find them on here along with maybe a couple others. No pedigrees were found on the sire's side though.

The dogs behind Astrid are German showlines, and Bad Boll is a famous German showline kennel, no matter the dogs in question.

Please give us the names from the sire's side, and we can likely find out something about them. Even if they are just backyard breeders, there's likely something on the web about them, and it will give you some idea of what to expect from your dog.
