Lovely kennels! They look very roomy and clean. Can't wait to see the outside finished :)

First time I have seen a purpose-built kennel block with an upper storey room, i think. Looks v smart. Have you a photo from the rear, please ?

So, what's the purpose of the addition? Living space for humans?

by JillSue on 02 November 2017 - 14:11

Sunsilver.........purpose? The old roof needed replaced, I needed room to store crates/use of my treadmill without going to the garage/have access to my furniture scales (great training for dogs needing to get used to stepping up on scales), etc. I do a small amount of boarding.....some of those dogs (small ones) feel more secure being away from larger ones, I keep my grandchildren after school and many nights as their mother is a full-time RN student and still working...part-time....at a vets office. The kids have a place to do their homework/play and the dogs get the benefit of having children around....plus I am teaching my future kennel help how it is done. The larger whelping room is now away from the main-stream area so as my boarding clients can now enter the building to drop-off and pick-up without being directly in contact with newborn pups. I am not getting any younger................so now I have covered areas over the doors and will not have to be shoveling snow just to get in this winter:)

Hundmutter............... I am working on getting the photos up............got it to work yesterday......I will get it figured out again:)

Hundmutter...... finally figured it out:)  The covered run you see......not attached to the kennel building.  It will get a new roof come spring. I let puppies exercise during the day......out of wet weather and off concrete.  The other side of kennel building has covered outdoor runs....just like the front.

On the right, with the igloo ? So is that one on grass ? (not entirely clear from pic).
TY for showing these other views. And for explaining to Sunny what you'll do with the upper space. It's all very impressive. And as you said, gives you good access all areas without getting wet / snowed in. So, are the rest of the runs, the new bits, all concrete flooring ? Have you had to multi-source wire panels, to get them fitted into your design - some look different to others ? I'm curious, not because I'm likely, at this late stage of my existence, to build any for myself, but because I have worked in & with such a variety of kennel buildings over the years that comparisons and how they work out still interest me. Keep us updated when you've got them fully in use, would be good to see if they work out as well as you hope.
