One of the few Steel Mills open, will now be gone. This will be devastating to the community and the workers. And Speaking of idle, Governor Tom Corbett opened his mouth like he cares. But, then again, he is up for re-election. Right now, he has about a snowball's chance in hell and this will drive his numbers down even more. I work in the community that abuts McKeeport, in a town that lost its mills decades ago, there's still a skeleton behind the Borough building. Stores will close, the drug trade, already a stronghold, will take over. Propery values will plummet and the demolition program will be full steam ahead. Sigh...
I guess I should look at the bright side, I'll never be out of work.

BY THE TIME the bill gets passed to govern bad Gasses in air for the Greenie removal of bad air that is causing our Climate change..the coal mines will be all closed down..
And the new tax on sugar drinks , such as soda pop, because USA has too many Fat people, the Soft drink companies will go to idle, AND THERE GO OUR JOBS , DOWN THE TUBE.. and on and on..
The new tax on sugar content drinks , they say will curb peoples consumption of sugar, but the truth being, men and women with money and incomes , can eat nutritionally great foods and go to gyms and spend money on fresh foods..Poorer americans eat what they can get ..and most is filled with sugar..
Who is it gonna hurt ? who is gonna benefit..I know what to eat and not eat and so do all of us...let the government tell us we have to pay mega taxes on it to keep us from buying it??????ha ha ha.

US Steel McKeesport is closing because they can't compete with China for steel tubing.

Well, as far as green goes, can't say I disagree with it, but it needs to generate some jobs. I've seen what the coal/steel industry has done to the landscape here and it isn't pretty. And I also remember a time when there were no fish in our polluted rivers, the sky was always murky and stinky and clean wasn't something Pittsburgh was known for. I'm kind of glad to see the tide turn with blue skies and green mountains, the strip mining and undermining in this area was devastating to flora and fauna. The fossil fuel industry has to loosen its reins so other, greener industries can catch up and provide some jobs. They've made their trillions, it's time to let others in the game.

The problem is the manufacturing is all moving to China..
But China basically has no pollution control...
So we lose jobs and China pollutes the world air even worse...

I agree ML. That's why I think it's time for new technology to jump in and take up some slack, if we're really serious. Cheap, clean energy would benefit all of us, and the world will be clamoring for it, once it becomes accessible. It could put us back on top in more than one way. It sure would boost the economy in terms of not only jobs, but savings on energy.

Yep , funny business....the ground gets saturated with chemicals for 1000 years no one stops that, and drugs kill millions , from FDA approved ones, chemicals in the body , but no one stops that...but let some one with no sense, start making LAWS without anyones approval , and to do our HEALTH and AIR WELFARE...lol good, and we loose more jobs and companies leaving USA by droves....China does not care...but we are suppose to get one more Law enforced costing Trillions to our american companies, not just steel, coal but hundreds of others in same line of business....all close or IDLE DOWN...WORLD PLAN , folks...ONE WORLD GOVERNMENT , coming to your LOCAL retail community Mall...run by YOUR UNCLE< named SAM

by Two Moons on 07 June 2014 - 16:06
A modern rail system would be nice.
