Bravecto - Page 1

I think I figured out my boys itching and horrible dandruff we have been dealing with for over a year. I have been using bravecto for a year and a half on my male. He’s been itching and severe dandruff. Always thought allergies nope all neg, biopsy’s show vascularitis. Gave bravecto a couple of weeks ago and he is itching and horrible dandruff again.
Gave bravecto to my 61/2 m female for first time and the itching is horrible with her now
I can only say now it’s the Bravecto.
I will never ever use this again on my dogs.
Now I have to wait til June to give another form of flea tick stuff.
Now to figure out how to help my dogs with the horrible itching. Grrrrrrrrrrr I feel horrible for them.

@ Jettasmom: Maybe try a benedryl for a week or so, am & pm with food; then stop benedryl. Will probably help both with itching, and I cannot use anything like that either. Just use spot on for fleas/ticks. I have to be careful with aussie. Clear of MDR1 thru parentage but don't give him anything; and won't give it to my German either. Stick with advantage plus, that's it.

I was warned not to use Bravecto due to fertility issues and possible birth defects.

The PetSmart house brand (Top Paw) oatmeal with aloe shampoo has helped with itching in the past, and continued use seems to prevent itching from coming back. Just checked their website and it looks like they've added baking soda this product (there's also another one with no aloe). When I buy again, I'll be trying the one that has both baking soda and aloe.

At least with the product I've been using, no foo-foo scent and the scent that is there doesn't cause me problems (I'm very scent-sensitive).

Unless you live in an area where fleas/ticks cause major infestations or your dog has a reaction from just one flea bite I wouldn't use any other chemical flea/tick stuff. Vets push that stuff like crazy even when it's not needed. A friend brought a stray cat into the house. It had fleas and gave them to her three little dogs. Upon her vet's recommendation she now religiously uses flea/tick stuff year round even though her dogs barely venture ten feet from the house.

I'm in Northern Illinois and haven't had a flea problem since the early 90's when one of my dogs picked them up from being in a kennel. I use a natural spray to repel ticks. Yes, I find them on my dogs occasionally but I pick them off.

May I suggest beneficial nematodes to help out in the yard. Totally organic & non toxic to your pets and do not kill beneficial insects. Yes there are "bad" nematodes, but these are beneficial nematodes.
