Kelster42 let the 8 week old pup be a puppy... dont do anything but FUN stuffs. when your puppy is a bit older then you can start doing some basic training... Use food... i advice it.. Feel free to email me at any time with training help.

Two things you can consider if you want to research and start: Drive (pray)development with a berlap sac or very soft tug toy. I make this from butlap also. Puppy always wins and don't ask for what you may see an older puppy doing. Your only teaching the pup that this is the best thing in the world. Puppy tracking. Piece of food at each footstep along about a 20 pace track to start. After that let puppy tell you that he understands and you can add more steps. There are many ways to present the same basic skills so you will have to talk to someone who can help you along their method. But this will at least teach the puppy foundation that he puts his nose to the ground when you say 'such'. I start with a small food drop before the track also to make sure they are in the correct drive to start the track. I start imprinting the 'sit', 'plutz' and 'stand' with food at this age but there are so many different opinions about when to start this it is really up to you.

Your best bet is to get with a schltzund club in you area for advice and help with training. At 8 weeks you should be working on housebreaking, introduction to leash and collar, getting your puppy to learn his name and to come when he sees you. Absolutely everything should be Positive including house breaking ( use a kennel crate). Remeber if he does not know what you want him to do how can you punish him for not doing it. Don't ruin your dog by pushing him too early. I have seen alot of this. Also don't do anything that someone advises you to do if you don't feel it is right.
