I’m looking for breeders of the Czech working line German shepherds in the uk. I will be looking to purchase in the next 2 years or so. I would like to have contact with a few breeders before hand so I know I can be ready. Any help welcome

Libsterfrosty, when Americans ask for breeders they often get their PM Inboxes quickly filled with self-advertising breeders to choose from. Its less likely you will get a similar response from the UK simply because PDB is far less well-used by the British than it ever was ... and it never was used by us as much as by GSD people in the USA. (But do check your Inbox, just in case some respond !)

However : PDB has lists of people posting their credentials as breeders and their current / latest litters, if you haven't yet found it. List of boxes on LEFT, this page, penultimate button above 'Articles'. Put in breed and country of search, and I haven't looked lately but there will be some listed there. If you find breeders there who do not state which lines they use PM me and I'll tell you, if I know. S K Lim of  Lyfame GSDs still features in that list, he is local to me and when last I heard he was producing some nice W/L dogs, pretty sure many of those were from Czech lines.

Also PDB does have one (semi-active in posting) loyal UK member. Kaffirdog (use 'User Search', in set of buttons top RIGHT);  Margaret is also a breeder of some Czech lines. She & her husband are also involved in the UK IPG training and working 'scene' - so if she doesn't have what you want at present, she may well be able to suggest other breeders who have.

Plus, you can go on The Kennel Club website and look there. There is information on breeders who do all the health checks considered necessary for the GSD. Many of these will be Show side breeders who rarely use Czech lines, but there are some Working people there too.

If you let us know where you are based, I can maybe suggest some more.

good advice hund, I kinda laughed at the inbox full, cause it is so true.

I have no idea what the "club" training scene is like in the U.K. but if my dog was 2 years out, I would try to find any active clubs in my area and become involved. I have met very serious people, who maybe only breed seldom and produce some nice dogs.

Rik that's one reason why I asked where the OP is located, to see if I could suggest that. IPG clubs here are still few and far between (though not as physically distanced as some US situations - though you'd never know it, we do like being able to get to places* easily !) but there are certainly some about. They also get very booked up, membership wise. Margaret was running one, hope she still is, so if approached by the OP she could possibly help there. Like you, I always suggest at some point (although often through PMs rather than posts) that new or prospective owners get involved with a Club and the contacts / knowledge that brings them. In the absence of Working training, the OP might find it useful to know where other GSD Breed Clubs are. In this case, the OP may not even be in the UK themselves, so addresses might not help.

[*In mitigation, our traffic on this small island is normally worse than yours, (cross-country), so a lot of journeys - while not of the length of American ones - can be very time consuming & tiring !]
