Is there a website that is geared towards job postings/jobs wanted in the dog industry? We have an employment website like that for the horse industry.
We are looking to hire full time dog trainers in the Dallas, TX area, and other than Facebook, aren't sure where to post available jobs.

You could try our classified section under Trainer section.

Contact Lackland Air Force Base (home of military dog training for all military services) Transition Assistance Point (TAP)
https://www.jbsa.mil/Resources/Military-Family-Readiness/-Transition-Assistance-Program/

The website is geared toward military transitioning to civilian, but the program can help you get your jobs announced to transitioning military of all branches via worldwide TAP. Many, many military dog handlers, kennel masters, and trainers worldwide, so not just coming out of Lackland (hence, worldwide ad), but potentially one or more could be interested in/already intending to go to Dallas/area.

That is an old thread, but I didn't find something fresher. That is my dream to work in the dog industry. I am from Milwaukie and I will be very thankful if you will share some vacancies in this sphere because I am really interested in this. I was surfing through many job platforms looking for a new job, but unfortunately, there are no variants that are perfect for me.

I think the only place jobs would be advertised here would be in the classifieds (premium or otherwise)

If you let us what you're interested in doing, maybe someone here could suggest some kinds of places or jobs that might be of interest. Depending on what you decide you want to do, you might need training, certification(s), and/or experience. Keep in mind, jobs you're looking at might be scarce right now because of the pandemic.

Good luck!

Q Man asked that question on Billon's earlier thred, but didn't get a reply.

Billon, can you tell us what skills you might have to offer, and what sort of work you would like to do ? There are a whole range of jobs working with dogs these days, but no single way to find out about them or qualify for them. But if we know more about what you want and what you are offering, and roughly where you are located, maybe we can come up with more suggestions than Lackland.

I could answer your original question and tell you my experience of a dog job, but I promise you that would not help you to find one !

To be honest, I don't have any special skills, but I am really interested to learn them and working as a trainee in a new job if it would be possible. I even can't say which vacancy is interesting for me. I am very interested in teaching dog owners how to live with the dog, how to show their commands correctly and how to control the dog's behaviour. I believe that it is very actual for many dog owners

Then, at least initially, you ought to be looking at Dog Training opportunities (rather than thinking about, say, a military or Police career on the offchance you can eventually get to be a Dog Handler). 121 dog training is as much about training the owners as it is their dogs, IME !

Why not find out who in your area is advertising services as a Dog Trainer and/or Behaviourist, ask about their work, whether they could use an extra pair of hands around them while you pick up tips about what they do and why they do it ? You might have to do this as a spare time volunteer, but you'd get invaluable knowledge and some idea of your own talents, as you go. Many of us regulars on here probably started by doing unpaid, or very low paying, things. I know I did !

Talk to those running local dog clubs (all sorts: working training, Ringcraft, basic pet obedience). See if they need setting up help on Club nights. Meet as many 'dog people' as you can, you will inevitably come up against people who work their dogs, who Show their dogs, who do various sports with them; and breeders of dogs. Widen your horizons as much as you can.

Meanwhile, think about what study you could do to further your aims. Online you'll find lots of schools and courses offering education in Animal Behaviour, in Training. Decide what you can afford and what appeals to you. Everyone wants qualifications before they employ people, especially new people without a good deal of dog-keeping experience already.

Or you could look at neighbourhood Dog Walking / Pet Sitting. Loads of people need someone to exercise their dogs if they work or are temporarily off their feet; lots of folk appreciate someone they can trust looking in on or feeding their pets while they are out all day, or away on holiday. Be aware you'll need to EARN that trust, which will take time; and that its best to Insure yourself against problems, another piece of paper your customers will want to see.

Dog Walking can include Dog Training, because a few people don't do much on that side for themselves - but they will want you to know what you are doing, so thats something you could offer, further along when you have gained experience. You must investigate local charges for yourself, I don't think there are 'national pay scales' but I do know its much more an established industry now than when I was one of very few dog walkers as a teenager, and doing it more for love of dogs than money.

PS  I have no idea if this is true of AKC, but the UK Kennel Club published a little book about careers in working with dogs; you could ask if something similar is available there.

Billon
i guess you may join army or LE with objective to work with dogs if you can prove them you're capable physically and mentally for such work.
other option would be to find organization, which provides trained dogs for people in needs of them as a service dogs.
at least these are serious institutions and not private crooks who's advertising themselves as dog whisperers.
