Just wondering what you guys do to keep flies away from your kennels. This is the first year I have had trouble. We keep them clean and spray odoban reguraly, but they are just bad this year. Any sprays or etc that you guys would recommend?

Not sure what type of drain system you have, but make sure once kennels are sprayed out that all poop/pee is then flushed out of drains. Keep food covered up too. Try Fly Predators. I haven't used them personally, but know of several horse and dog people who find them useful.
I'm not sure if odoban actually kills what causes the odor or masks it, but we use Wysi-wash with GREAT success. Aprrox 20 dogs in kennel and there is no ammonia or poop smell. More effective and cheaper than bleach. Costs about $4 a week to clean 20 indoor/outdoor runs twice a day.
Hands down would recommend it.

Fly predators are very very very effective. No fly problems anywhere this year, not even in the horse pasture or goats. Hasn't been this fly-free since before the coyotes and hawks killed all our free range guinea fowl.

They are fairly inexpensive, too.

Feed them raw meat, Dog food waste attracts flies.

Vom Blanka, to flies, poop is still poop ;)

I use fly strips (sticky paper) to keep the numbers down, and I seldom have problems -- there are flies, but they aren't in high number and aren't bothering the dogs. There's a cattle farm just behind my property, and that has led to there always being a few flies.

This year I had goats not far from the kennel and the fly numbers have increased, so I might get some fly predators next year.

Love the idea of fly predators! I have been using foodgrade DE (diatomaceous earth) and lightly sprinkle it over the areas dogs poop in. If I can't clean the poop right then, I just sprinkle it on the poop. Very effective and harmless to the dogs. Win, win situation.
