My sister gave me a cool wood bathtub.  I have no idea how to seal it or what kind of wood it is.   Internet is not giving me much.

Anyone own a wood bathtub?  If so, how did you seal it and take care of it?

It depends on the wood.  If it's teak, you don't have to seal it.

GSDTravels - That is what I am not sure of.  It looks teak, but I have nothing indicating it is teak.  Any wood can be stained any color.  Is there a way to tell for sure if it is teak?

Oh, that's a tough one, I know teak when I see it, but it's hard to explain.  It's tight grained, with some thin, dark striations in the grain.  Smooth to feel, won't splinter, heavy, fragrant.  I'll see if I can find some close-up pictures and post them.  I had a teak chair, but recently, grudgingly (LOL) gave it to my daughter.  She redid her house and had a perfect spot for it and I couldn't say "NO!" I'm really kidding, I was happy that she love it so much :)  Anyway...  I'm hunting for pics.

Well, that was easy!  Teak grain images, voila!

That link was perfect; I really need to work with Google Image more.

Ok, so it is not teak.

It does have some sort of finish on it, but it is not very thick.   I am researching polyurethane coating now.  Any more ideas?

Google: marine spar varnish

It might do the trick?
