I liked this interview with god "poem", that is why I put my user name in the title of the thread even though this is not really scriptural poem...

What does "... and die as if they had never lived." mean ?
(Serious non-catch question !)

“Interview With God”
Author Unknown
I dreamed I had an interview with God.
“So you would like to interview me?” God asked.
“If you have the time” I said.
God smiled. “My time is eternity”.
“What questions do you have in mind for me?”
“What surprises you most about humankind?...”
God answered...
“That they get bored with childhood. They rush to grow up and then long to be children again. That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future. That they live as if they will never die, and die as if they had never lived.”
God's hand took mine and we were silent for awhile.
And then I asked...
“As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn?”
God replied with a smile.
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them. What they can do is let themselves be loved. To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others. To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most, but is one who needs the least. To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in persons we love, and it takes many years to heal them.
“To learn to forgive by practising forgiveness. To learn that there are persons who love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings. To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently. To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others. But that they must forgive themselves. And to learn that I am here always.”

Hundmutter,
We live as though we are never going to die. We are so afraid of death that we don't even think about it. We don't plan for it. We don't appreciate the life we have yet we don't want it to ever end. We don't want to take any risks we feel we don't have to; just in case we do end our lives. So we die having never really lived. It is only by realizing that we could die any minute, which is the case after all, that we can really appreciate our life for what it is. A beautiful but short time what we should really make the most of while we are here.

Oh, I get the 'live as though we are never going to die' bit;
its exactly what the (brothers ?) mean by dying as if we
hadn't lived that I'm curious about - and which you still
haven't explained, except to imply - as the video does - that
it is sort of the opposite couplet. I just don't understand how
that works ...

Wait a minute, I think I'm getting it ! People who live lives
of high risk cos they don't realise they are not immortals ...
have OPPOSITE people (surely can't be different factors in
the same people ?) who never take any risks in case it
hastens their death ? Is that all ?
Do you actually know any people who NEVER take any sort
of risks ? They must be like the Bubble Boy; I really do
not think anyone is that cut off from the world around them,
whether they are believers or not. Unless they are mentally
incompetant and locked away in hospitals. We all take some
chances, whether consciously and deliberately, or inadvertently
(like we might catch a disease we don't know about).

Felloffher,
Every time you participate in my threads makes me feel confident that I am doing good job!
Like the last time when you got too far in (GSDtravel's thread) and your post was deleted because I have scripture: Remember that thread

The problem you have is you lack "self-control" that you really need to work on buddy!

I think my posts are deleted because you cried about them. I'm willing to bet your posts would be deleted if any of us bitched about being called servants of darkness or satanists. Anyway, I will leave you to your delusions of granger.

Hi Felloffher.
When I called you servant of darkness, yes, this is true since that's what the Bible says; but I never said or called anyone satanists - you are making false accusations.
And one last thing, it's about time that you leave me alone.
You take care,
Shtal.
