Some people really shouldn't have pets.....  Hard to feel sorry for someone who makes this kind of mistake.

Wow, wonder if he is able to find the winning candy with the "W" printed on it that comes in every bag of M & Ms?

A few years back, I recall a news report out of Japan that people had been sold lambs in place of Poodles, too.  Turns out it wasn't true--the paper that originally carried the story, the UK tabloid The Sun, got the facts scrambled:  http://www.hoax-slayer.com/japan-sheep-poodle-hoax.shtml

I suspect this may turn out to be the same thing, given that the source is that other paragon of journalism, the UK's Daily Mail.  Especially since the 'author' of the story apparently couldn't even be bothered to look into how a ferret could be termed a 'Brazilian rat', or confirm if they were in the rodent family.

The stoopid thing about all this, apart from the problem Hexe notes
with some of our wonderful UK press, is that ferrets make really nice
pets. For people who understand how to look after them properly, of
course.  Apparently they are now about 4th most popular pet over
here.  Not sure if that announcement was just out of the small furries,
rather than including cats & dogs.  Wouldn't want to fluff their hair up
like that though.Teeth Smile

Don't feel bad, Hundmutter...we've got several US publications that claim kinship with their British relations [though it must be said that some of them are owned by Rupert Murdoch, so we get to blame Australia for him even though it pulled his citizenship].

Ferrets ARE great little pets, though I'm not keen on their scent...there's always that slightly musky odor about them.

The tentacles of Murdoch crawl far and wide, Hexe.  I almost
feel sorry for Australia.

Yeah, the ferret smell is a little musky. Keeping the sleeping
areas really clean helps, and there is some Ferret Shampoo
on the market;   plus you get used to it [  ;) ], so it isn't as bad
as sometimes 'painted'.  And they do have endearing little
personalities.   Does hurt, if they ever decide to bite you, tho' !Omg Smile
