Contact your breeder. You should get or have gotten a litter registration form that you fill out and send to the registry with $, Then they will send you the official papers with a pedigree (if you pay a bit extra). Also find out from the breeder what registry the litter is under (its probably AKC since thats what the dam is). It sounds like the sire was imported and the pups were bred and whelped here, therefore your pup is not considered an import, just the sire. If the breeder had sent in his/her papers on the litter to the AKC in a timely manner you should have gotten this litter registration form at the time of sale. However if the breeder waited a bit to send in his/her papers he/she may still be waiting for them. He/she should have addressed this at the time of sale. Depending on how long it has been since the purchase, this may be a cause for concern. Breeders have been known to sell unregisterable dogs, for various reasons. Sometimes it is a paperwork problem, but sometimes its an unscrupulous breeder. I wouldn't get too worried until you talk to the breeder about it. Let me know what the breeder says. You may email me at Mbecker1@ptd.net
