First of all I want to send my condolences to those of you who lost anyone because of this tragic event. But I was wondering if anyone lost any dogs too? Are there any "big" named dogs that reside in the area of distruction? Mike

My sympathies also to those effected by this terrible natural disaster. Though I suspect Mykee the lack of communication to these parts at the current time will prevent many, if any response to your question. Especially considering that the total loss of human lives is still unnacountable. May the New Year bring them brighter tomorrows.

I did ask around - so far did not hear any "big name" dogs getting hurt. However, lots of livestock lost lives. That means the livelihood of so many survivors flushed down the drain.

Not to mention the ruined lives of those survivors who lost loved ones.

Mykee, You know when 9/11 happened, alot of pets were stuck in buildings. And alot of heroics occurred to save those animals. Not only have alot of people, children, animals including dogs lost their lives. I agree this is a site for dogs. Why not inquire? We realize now that it may be well over 100,000 lives lost. Just think of all the lives that has come to an end through this awful natural catastrophe. Including the livestock that supported families, and the street dogs rummaging through trash. God save all their souls! If you have no compassion, you have no soul and that is for all living things. Our prayers are with those affected by this terrible tragedy. Layla

Hi Mykee, I think your question was well-meant, and I'm last person I know to take any moral highground but, with indescribable torments being suffered by countless families over children lost etc, it may be a shade premature to inquire in respect of 'big-name' dogs. Please accept in gentle spirit intended.

by Layla on 30 December 2004 - 06:12

Olddog, I don't think Olddog you have a gentle spirit. On my knees, Layla

by Olddog on 30 December 2004 - 07:12

Layla, As for ex, you misjudge me so cruelly! My faults are legion - but my caring heart overcomes all! On your knees indeed, you merciless judge of poor lost souls!
