Kimbertal Kennels - Page 1

Dont have personal experence with this kennel but you might want to google the kennels name. Lots of information came up. I know they have other breeds there and its a hit or miss with the forums.. Good Luck

 i just got a dobe from a lady who had to give up her kimbertal doberman due to a lease agreement. she has had thosand of dollars put into her obedience schooling and is the best and most beautiful dog ever. However, when this women told me about kimbertal i did my research. naturally with such a beautiful unspayed female we thought of breeding her. now kimbertal will select a stud for you and take care of the medical stuff then buy the puppies back from you when you are ready. sounds like a good deal, except my baby would be away from me for 10 days. but then i looked at their website and it was just weird and the breeding kennels made me uncomfortable. so i would highly recommend if you do get this dog not to breed it with them do it on your own. also i heard about alot of health problems. google kimbertal +problems, it's scarey so get the health guerantee. she is a beautiful dog and well behaved. i love her and i love the breed.

   I bought my first dobe from Kimbertal in 1976.  He had nerve problems, hyper active, not trustworthy.  I took him back per our agreement and eventually found a replacement puppy.  We went to Kimbertal one afternoon.  Bob Yarnell (owner) was not there but his agent was.....she was docking tails and asked us to be patient and she would be with us.  We waited and I fell in love w/ an 8 week old male.  She released the puppy to us and I was thrilled.  First thing the next morning Bob Yarnell called our home and said the puppy had to come as 1. those pups had just come in and he did not have time to evaluate the litter, 2.  I *took* pick of the litter without a representative there to ok that particular choice, and 3. the pups were possibly sick w/ demodectic mange.

    Ok a few things don't make sense.  1.  His agent was there and had enough knowledge/authority to ok docking tails.  She did turn the puppy over to us with no problems or statements such as "these pups have not been evaluated by Mr Yarnell yet."    She appeared to have full knowledge of the workings of Kimbertal ...their policies etc.  2. HOW if the puppies were not evaluated did Bob Yarnell know I had the pick of the litter?   3. IF the pups were never seen how would he know there was a problem w/ demodex?  (Our vet checked the puppy and he was fine.  Never had a mange problem)

         It ended up we had to get a lawyer, pay $50 for the papers, AND Bob Yarnell named the puppy "Kimbertal's Klein Dumkopf"....< means Kimbertal's Little Dummy" ......That annoyed me more than anything else.  Oh well he ended being "Kimbertal's Klein Dumkopf TT, CDX, B, Wh"......went thru training w/ the Bensalem Police Department and worked in SchH and personal protection training and was sold at 4 years old .  "Scar" as he was called was a helluva dog but I personally wouldn't care to deal w/ Kimbertal from my own personal experience.

I personally like to buy puppies from small professional kennels breeders or even perhaps good reputable breeders who show they have been doing good for the breed!!

Go to http://www.Dobermantalk.com to see the discussions about this kennel. Use the search function at the top of the forum or ask about Kimbertal and someone will post some of the discussions about the breeder.

In my opinion breeders that have a paypal or credit card options on their websites are usually breeding way too many litters and are not breeding in the best interests of the doberman pinscher breed overall. In my opinion these large scale breeders are in it strickly for the money and don't seem to care much about what happens to the puppies.

You also might check the PA rescues in Kimbertal's area to see how many dogs they end up with that Kimbertal doesn't take back when the owners can't keep them for various reasons.

I purchased a pup from Kimbertal and I am happy with her.

I know alot of people do not like Kimbertal because they are a large breeding kennel.  They claim Kimbertal is a puppy mill. That is NOT true. All the pups are raised in loving homes until old enough to return to the kennel. They are then sold almost immediately to new homes.  They  get surprise inspections by the state of PA and by the AKC and have not been found in any wrong doing.

My girl was expensive, but she is extremely smart and has a great personality.

Most doberman/rott breeders only breed occasionally. Kimbertal has cornered the market on supply and demand.  Most people dont want to wait 2-3 years for a pup or w/ strings attached. They do back up their sales with a warranty and offer rebates if you title the dog in aKC obedience.

Dont listen to those website forums, because they are nothing but breeder bashers and slanderers. They act like thier own crap doesnt stink, but everyone elses does.

The only downside with Kimbertal is that their dogs championships are all european. AKC doesnt recognize their international accomplishments, but the pups are AKC registered. The studs earned it, so AKC should recognize thier titles, but they dont.

If you are willing to wait for a small breeder to produce pups, then that is great. I didnt want to wait and they had lots of pups to choose from. They go fast.

I purchased a Dobie from Kimbertal in 1998 and everyone that met him couldn't believe how great of a dog he was. He has since passed away and been thinking of getting another one and the only place I would go would be Kimbertal Kennels. I think its funny how people call this a puppy mill. A puppy mill in my opinion is the constant breeding of their females. Kimbertal only breeds their females twice and thats it so it doesn't thin out the blood line of their Dobermans.
 I am actually going there tomorrow and if I find one that I like he will be coming home with me.                        

my cousin bred rotts for years, and her partner had dobies, I remember being told horror stories about Kimbertal kennels.  the main gripe was health problems in their lines.
