Seriously,
I always thought everyone had shelters in that part of the country, especially schools.
All I have ever had was a ditch or hole, and the one time I really needed one it was all over before I could get my family into it.
We for lack of a better word lucked out.

They just showed a DOG being found alive by the owner an elderly lady...ON the Talk....a video of her so thankful for her pet.. It was pulled out from under a big piece of concrete laying crosswise...
Tears of joy from her..she said" 2 prayers answered."

I saw that too, on the news as it happened.
Amazing.
Amazing.

Day 2--we are under a severe thunderstorm warning now and it is doing it--also a tornado watch. By the way I am only about 70 miles south of Moore. No word from Sister--again no way of getting through. Also Bee Moore was the site of another MASSIVE tornado--I am almost sure it was in the 70's. My sister's kids were little then. Might have been early 80's. She was in that one too.
GOOD NEWS just got through to her and she is fine--a little shaken of course. Thanks you guys for all the positive thoughts.
YR glad your Okie folks are all ok. Like I just told Sister, any day in Oklahoma that we are having this kind of weather any time you don't get blown away is a good day. So Ihope everyone has a good day.

Great news!
The TV shows everything is incredibly ... gone! So sorry for OK!!! I wouldn't want to chance it again... Voniisk... I would be thinking of moving somewhere else, all things considered.
That lady finding her dog was very sweet!
...just saw... lots of other people are missing their pets.... heartbreaking

Ah Bee I've lived over most of this country at one time or another. My last big town was Dallas and I came here to retire. This is my home. Not this physical house but this world here is home. Every place you live has it's goods and bads.
Besides that a week from today is my birthday and I will be 60--that makes you an elder in my tribe. Lots of benefits to being an elder. So no sorry just gotta deal with the weather as it comes.................

While it is nice to send well wishes it is far better to actually go out and do something to help. Here is what my Police Dept is doing and I'm sure many other PD's are doing the same things. I am posting an email that was sent out the other day to our entire department to gather the necessary items to actually help those in need in Oklahoma.
>
> They are in need of the following basic supplies:
>
> Batteries
> Flashlights
> Work gloves
> Hand sanitizer
> Baby wipes
> Baby food
> Diapers
> Dog food
> Sunscreen
> Socks (all sizes)
> Underwear (all sizes)
> Feminine products
> Toothbrushes
> Toothpaste
> Soap
> Shampoo
> Ponchos
> Advil / Tylenol
> Granola / protein bars
>
> I know it's short notice but they need the items above ASAP. If each Precinct/Section
> could take up a collection this week a care package will be mailed out at the beginning of next week. The effort is being coordinated out of the Second Precinct so please contact Jenny XXXXXX or Officer Jimmy XXXXXX with any questions. Thank you for your assistance.
Collection of items has been on going and will be sent out each Monday. In addition, our K-9 unit is collecting dog food, leashes, collars and any other items that people may need for their pets. My intention with this post is not to say what we are doing but to let people know how they can also help. Instead of talking about the tragedy get out and send some bare necessities. I'm sure your local PD would be happy to assist in collecting your items or would be able to direct you to your local Red Cross. If you have an aversion to us 'stupid cops" as some do on the PDB, I'm sure the Fire Dept is doing something similar. We all know that everyone loves firemen. I've done a shopping at Costco and we are sending dog food and clothing. I hope others will do or have done the same. Every little bit helps, especially for those that now have nothing.
We are all aware of the situation in the Oklahoma City area. Sadly, not only are the local first responders working around the clock, but many have also lost homes, friends and family.

Two of the area churches raised $20.000 for supplies and are on the way there now to deliver them.
People do act, usually quicker and better than our wonderful goverment agencies.

BTW, I did both I sent cash and my well wishes if that is alright? Next time I start a thread maybe I should clear it with everyone first? Wow, will someone please toot my horn? Me, me, me, I, I, I.
I guess I am not even allowed to post my thoughts and prayers to a tragedy. Can anyone say control freak?
