LOL @ Moons.....that sounds like a story :)
Great idea Bee...they would be out of the way and good cover for an ugly compost heap.
BabyE....That gourd picture is really cool....I bet you could also use this method to grow most viney veggies and fruits.

Those trellis look like the wire cattle panels we use to make ours. They are sixteen feet long, four and a half feet tall. Secure the end with T posts and walk the other end towards the secured end, bowing the panel to the hight you want. Then drive two more T posts at the desired place and fasten panel. You can make the trellis as long as you want adding more panels side by side. It's cheap, easy and can take them down easily.

BabyEagle,
That thing looks heavy...lol
Those are the ornamental varieties aren't they?
Now that, would be neat to walk through.

clc29,
the little buggers have 1,000's of acres of forest but like my corn, or at least they did.
After two seasons of it I'd had enough.

Ya those are the ornamentals - I'll be trying the bottle gourds so we can make bird houses.

I have plenty of cattle wire and panels. They are not that heavy Moons. I think your thinking about round pen panels - even those I can lug around - one at a time anyhows.

I took off work tomorrow - see what I can muster up.

The more and more I think about it though, I kinda want to plant flower vines. I'll prolly make two. LOL

Two things to consider if you are making a dome.... air circulation is key to preventing diseases. How's the humidity where you live? Powdery mildew comes to mind, one reason to get them off the ground, too. Supposedly, wetting and rinsing the leaves is good and removing and destroying all dead pieces.  Also, OG testing says spraying with milk helps if plants get bothered. Best not to get any diseases started, however.

I would intertwine the flower and the gourd vines. Really. Start the flowers now, and the gourds, come July maybe a bit earlier for you, well, they will sprout in days, just train the vines where you want them to go.

"air circulation" ... The wire cattle panels Travels and I are talking about, are 6 x 8 inch openings, and are completely open on the ends. We've never had any disease in crops grown on them, including beans.
