Our wild ones never come close to the house on purpose, but I have called them out into the open road with a call.
The dogs leave them alone for the most part knowing they can't catch one.
I did lose a domestic hen with chicks once to the wild flock, we still see sign of the mix in the wild flock every once in a while.
It would never happen the other way around.
I hear the wild ones more than I see them, but we have plenty for sure.
Something more rare around here, I spotted a Ruffed grouse the other day, like a tiny version of a turkey.

My Dad used to hunt grouse and pheasant. They were pretty plentiful then, don't see many now. Hunting season was an exciting time when I was a kid, good memories. I'd sit on the basement steps and talk to my Dad when he was skinning the bounty. My Great-Aunt Mae made fancy hats from the feathers. It taught me a lot about relationships with nature, people and dogs. We didn't live in the country, but we had a hunting camp up north and some good hunting dogs, they earned their keep.

They are really making a comeback here in Ontario, too. I nearly hit one with my car the other day.
I like 'em stuffed. My first sentence as a child was "More turk!" And I banged the tray on my high chair until I got some!
