Phew, maybe there will finally be some discussion on here between mature adults who can agree to disagree, without all the childish bickering.

What bothers me most is when I watch TV shows like "Million Dollar Rooms" on HGTV and then think of how many kid right here in Tampa aren't getting enough to eat.

What bothers me the most is the power that a very few have over everyone else who is not at the top of the pyramid.
The control they have over the market place and the value of currency world wide.

I remember when my brother was installing some very expensive woodwork on the 4th yacht of one of the oil company execs, the guy wanted a "small yacht" that was only 100' or so because the others required large crews and he wanted something more "quaint".  Another yacht had gold leaf in the salon and a couple of exotic animal skin sofas that cost more each than a small town of people's yearly incomes combined.  My cousin used to work at an exotic car dealer in the 80's. Some of the cars that the wealthy would buy as a 2nd or 3rd car would pay the working budget for a town for a few years.

How small are these towns?  LOL!   Really, are you complaining that your relatives were making a living off these profligate spenders? How about the companies that made the yachts, sofas, and cars?  And are you sure these affluent consumers weren't in fact from foreign countries?.  I also find such excesses to be offensive, but better the money should be spent than deposited in overseas accounts!

Micaho, it would be nice if my brother was actually making decent money for all his talent, and he is an incredibly talented carpenter and has been doing this for many many years (gotta love right to work states).  As for the cost of the yachts, well a simple no frills (pardon the pun) 60-80' can run over a million.  The above mentioned one my brother did was $1.75 million.  The yacht owner has 3 other yachts that cost him 3.1, 4.8, and 5.7 million.  I think that covers most small towns incomes for the year don't you??? lol  And he is an oil exec.  My brother worked on many, many US owned yachts.  He has also worked on quite a few Saudi royal owned yachts and a few other from other middle eastern countries.  He has traveled all over the world.  Oh and by the way, most of the American big wigs with the yachts keep their money overseas, my brother has seen the checks signed on overseas banks.  He specs out yachts now and does the carpentry for special orders (he is asked for by name) and it never fails to amaze him the money people are willing to spend.

BE4U, as for working three jobs (lol), well I did two, went to school to get my certifications/licensures and raised a son until I finally got hired by a large fire department up north, made a decent wage with great benefits (but try and find 24 hour day care, sheesh) and was finally able to enjoy time with my son.
