A Poll Question to Eliminate Trolls - Page 2

Do I understand this correctly, that anyone can enter a dog's data or change it, but we must be authenticated to post on the Bulletin Board? There has to be a better way to register a dog or change information rather than using a credit card number. I certainly don't want mine floating around. Surely, some of the same minds who develop very secure programs e.g., the governments, could be consulted, and the information given to dear Oli. This nonsense of changing information on dog's pedigrees to purposely mislead researchers, or putting in fake dogs should be punishable.

I agree with July, on that fees or closing to public will make this site a lot smaller a lot quicker as only few dogs (comparatively) will be registered from than on. I think all this site needs is Oli getting help!!! Which I'd be happy to provide as well. There are not sooo many fake entries that you coudn't sort them out. If we find helpers, which I don't think would be a big problem at all, and Oli agrees to give up some resposibility :) most of this site's problems will be sorted out in no time.

I would have no problem paying a subscription fee or what Oli would like. I don't know how it could be organised but this site IMHO is just to good to loose. We do have some people who have anti-social behaviours who do post some interesting dog pedigrees that are so corrupt it is farcical. If someone can devise away or assist Oli, I for one would be very happy. I believe Oli is busy with a new job (Not sure where I read this on the board and would look at things in the new year) I believe that the databse is becoming very large. Regards Freundhund

Let Oli decide what he wants. He is doing a darn good job. Let's be grateful for what we have. Oli will make corrections when time permits. Personally, I am opposed to fees, closing the site to the public, and reducing the number of registrations. I will also be glad to help IF Oli WANTS any help. Louise M. I agree with "Four Winds" Liz... I would pay and not complain. Anything to eliminate the idiots that come along to this site and make a mess of it. Those of you who poo-poo the charges are a bunch a tight @$$es and need to contribute without complaining. I really don't feel that those who are really involved with this site would mind the charges. If it quiets it down and no riff-raff that would be even better. It's appauling to see the inadequate pedigress that have been cropping up on this site lately and this is counter productive if not down right dangerous to anyone who is trying to keep their breeding lines free of errors. I would help Oli as well if there is a need and I would do it for free and still pay him for this wonderful site. Let me know Oli Mike

I would pay, if I had to. But money will not make Oli be less busy. I also agree that the database will stop being so well updated on dogs. Or do you think that the 30 or so active members on this board will be able to register dogs, to keep the database up to date, on the GSD in the whole world? Doubt it. Rude people posting messages can be easily ignored. Fake pedigrees have to be of course fixed. But it costs time. I would be willing to donate time rather than money, as I don't think closing and fees is a solution. It will kill the database, not help it. imho

Lets not be absurd here. Just because some one makes suggestions, doesnt mean they dont appreciate the site.There are problems with it. Like my trademark complaint about the updating of photos and registrations. 2 months and still no photo. While Oli is a very generous man to donate his time for this, the site should be useable. You cant argue that.

So if we come accross troll droppings, what do we do to correct the prank? I was just looking up Esto vd Noort and see that in his pedigree a photo for V Luna dell' Isola Baroni is really two trolls. M**3
