Jenni I agree films and medical topics are interesting and good to learn from and help new members to the dogs world to learn from.  I hope more will post these topics.

Yes it is a shame when the topics become ????

Beetree, you are really wondering why 'this place has lost its soul' ???

Couldn't be because of the things some people say, could it ? ( Isn't there some saying in your Bible about specks and logs in eyes ?)

by beetree on 03 August 2017 - 17:08

@Jenni, lol, you got that backwards! Apologies, if I misunderstood your guidance involvement with Reliya, sounded like there was connection is all, by what she said.

If someone could actually explain what is being seen, specifically the differences in the examples provided, this would actually be a learning thread and less of ... something else.

Hoping to hear what Reliya says about what she was looking at to come up with a Good or Fair. I find these threads fascinating and very difficult to finesse the details. I was hoping to learn something.

@Hundmutter... LOL  No religion pontification allowed on the Dog Boards. Maybe start one on OT. That board has really died and gone to heaven! My eyes are just fine, so no worries there.   I do have to wear readers, now, true, at my age! No canes yet, though! Now, don't go stirring up the pot with me!

And no, I don't wonder why this place has lost its soul. I can't share that answer, it would be against TOS.

Edited to add: Eye roll@SMH

Xray discussion could have been a lot more interesting than random topics that pop up and a lot more educating. Instead, it turned personal and mocking.

exactly why no one wants to comment anymore.

@ Jenni: glad they look good or better. N

by beetree on 03 August 2017 - 17:08

Agreed! It would be great to hear someone explain the differences being seen while making a judgment call, and that were picked out by a person actually looking at the X-rays! Just making a statement or a guess doesn't really provide much useful information in the skill of reading what the bones have to tell.

Reliya

Sorry. I didn't read what you said correctly. Thought you said "what OFA photo lead you to this decision." I was just leaving work (I work nights) and desperate for a nap.

Here's exactly what I did: I looked at the X-Ray, looked at the OFA photo. I thought "looks good, but I'll say good/fair to be safe." I expected Jenni to say what she thought/correct me if I was wrong.

Also, sorry again. I only "spoke to her" as in asked her questions, pedigree opinions. Not really a mentorship. I wouldn't mind a mentorship, though.

Now that the cable man is leaving, I'm heading back to sleep. Hope that cleared things up.

Reliya

by Reliya on 03 August 2017 - 19:08

I should also say I only spoke to Jenni once, maybe four years ago, and once again only recently. Just general "I'm still new, what's this" type questions.

by beetree on 03 August 2017 - 19:08

I give up! I was looking for specifics, like this shadow indicates... such and such. Or, this line looks rough and indicates an injury. The ball joint is not clearly defined. Stuff like that.

Saying something is "Good or Fair" and then to find out it is Excellent or "superior" with no description of what is being noticed continues to make reading X-rays a guessing game to me.
