I may be pretty simple minded, but for me 3.13% are 3.13%, not more, not less, whereas 50% ( parents generation ) are 50%...
That said I'd always try to go with sire and dam I like because of their own traits-the more similar sire and dam, the better the chance to get what I want - but that's just my opinion.
