Not a problem.

I've seen broken glass washed onto drains that I rather not have my dog step on, so taking him around it preferal.

While anyone who was thinking straight would not put their
puppy in danger of crossing any particular surface that meant
an immediate risk, yogi is still right that the earlier you teach
a dog to walk over a variety of 'different'/ unusual, possibly
scary, surfaces, the better. A pup that is habituated to a real
variety of stairs, steps, textures, etc will generally learn the
message that just because somewhere feels or looks different
to what it is used to walking on, it can usually cross it; and have confidence in it's handler that when the handler sends it away
over the surface, walks with it on the surface, or calls it back
across the surface, it will not encounter difficulty. It is often
enough to just walk your dogs normally, you will encounter all
sorts of floors en route, when you do enough of it. If you really
live somewhere so unchangingly boring that this is not the case,
the onus on you, the handler, is to find new places to go !
But with any pup that shows trepidation at crossing any different
surface, at any time, it is down to the handler to spot that hesitancy
and put in the work to cure it.

Just for the record I would never put any of my pups in harms way . Teach them right and the end will be good
